April 13, 1959
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened
at 7 :30 P.Pi.
Chairman Lanni, Secretary Harrison, riessrs. Donahue,
Florence and La onard. and Supt . Welch were present.
The records of the previous meeting were read and approved
as amended .
It was moved, seconded and voted that in view of the
tabulation of votes (105 for - 5 opposed - 3 non committal) taken
at the sewer hearing of April 6, 1959 , that the 1959 Sewer
Program be approved . -
head letter from Selectmen requesting that the Service
Pipe. Construction bill of $x666.15 placed against the, Community
' Center building be abated .
Conferred with Messrs. Drew, Calvin and Sussman of the
Board of Selectmen relative to this matter.
It was moved and seconded to abate the sum of te686.15
of the Service Pipe bill.
The motion was defeated .
It was moved, seconded and voted to place the matter on
the table for one week.
Received letter from Cedarcrest Realty offering sum of
$200.00 for land owned by Town off Mill St, in North Reading.
It was moved, seconded and voted to refuse the offer.
Received letter from eight persons in vicinity requesting
that ditch in rear of houses on north side of Henzie St. and in

rear of houses on south side of Grove St . be widened . ,
Placed on file pending further information..
Received petition from 12 abuttors on Grove St. re-
questing that the storm drain in. Grove St, be extended from
Henzie St. to Mark Ave. and that the storm drain in Henzie St.
be extended through private property to the low spot in
Criterion Rd .
It was moved, seconded and voted to instruct Supt.
to write abuttors as follows:
1. Board will include Grove St. request in program of
storm drains and accomplish work as soon as funds are available.
2. That extension of storm drain to Criterion Rd , is
a questionable expenditure of Town funds as it benefits only ,
private property and at best would be only of partial value.
Received letter from Municipal Employees Assoc. re-
questing a meeting with the Board to discuss various subjects.
It was moved, seconded and voted to instruct Supt . to
arrange for a meeting on Thursday, April 16, 1959 at 7:30 P.M.
Received letter from Junior Unity of Unitarian Church
requesting permission to close off Summer Ave. from Temple St.
to Woburn St, on Saturday, May 16, 1959 from 9:00 A.M. to
4:00 P.M, in conjunction with the operation of a Country Fair.
It was moved, seconded and voted to approve the request.
