HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959-04-06 Board of Public Works Minutes 47 April 6, 1959 ' The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 8 :00 P.M. Chairman Zanni, Messrs. Donahue, Florence, Leonard and Superintendent Welch were present. Hearing at 6:00 P.M. in the Auditorium of the Community Center on proposed sewers in the following streets: Tennyson Road - All Virginia Road - All , Virginia Road Extension - All Pleasant Street Extension - beyond Manning St. Waverly Road - Oakland Road to Hillside Road Hillside Road - Waverly Road to Main Street Main Street - Hillside Road to Lawrence Road Lawrence Road - Main Street to Crest of hill Bancroft Ave. - Interceptor to Lowell Street King Street - West Street 2501 Easterly Wescroft Road - Coolidge Road 250' Easterly Lowell Street - Bancroft Ave . to near Highland St. One Hundred and Thirteen persons attended the hearing. A general explanation of the proposed sewer program was given by Chairman Zanni and Superintendent Welch . Questions from the audience were answered . Plans for the proposed sewers were available and Department employees answered detailed individual questions. A poll was taken in ballot form with the following results: 48 105 voted in favor of the proposed sewers 5 voted against the proposed sewers 3 were noncommittal It was moved, seconded and voted to approve the proposed sewer program as outlined above. At the meeting individual applications for house connections were received from thirty four property owners. At the conclusion of the meeting the Board continued its meeting at the Board of Public Works Office in the Town Building. Mr Florence acted as Secretary. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Considered advertising pamphlets for street rigid frame struc- tures which might be used for garage extension purposes. Board members will examine pamphlets individually. Several letters relative to 1959 Cbap. 90 Construction were reviewed for the purpose of more specifically identifying the 1959 program. Considered report on easements taken for loop water main purposes between Fielding Road and Willow Street. Basements just northeast of B & M railroad property. Ali easements agreements have been settled except for the Mystic Valley Gas Co. and Helen M . Cashman. Gas Co. easement will be available soon and it will not be necessary to award damages. Helen Cashman originally agreed to accept damages of X200.00. She now requests 4250.UO. It was moved, seconded and voted to award damages in the amount of $p25U.00 to Helen Cashman. Signed twelve copies of Order of Taking covering all easements for loop main between Fielding Road and Willow Street. 49 Considered report on Water Development projects for work completed to date in 1959 . Voted to hold a meeting of the Board on Tuesday April 21, 1959 as April 20, 1959 is a holiday. Mr. Bogren of Weston a Sampson will confer with the Board on that evening. Board adjourned 9 :30 P.M.
