HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959-01-19 Board of Public Works Minutes January 19, 1959 1 The rexlar meeting of the Board of Public Works was opened at 7:30 P . M . Chairman Donahue, Secretary Zanni, P:ssrs. Florence, Harrison, and Superintendent Welch were present . Records of previous meeting read and approved. Received letter from Personnel Board stating that they have approved all the Board of Public Works proposals for reclassifications, maximum and minimum rates, descriptions and wage increases with the exception of increasing maximum rates for senior and junior clerks and stating further that they will introduce all necessary Articles in the Town Meeting warrant , Received letter . froa_ Cannavino £c Shea, Contractors, stating that they are willing to proceed with the Water Main contract with the understanding that there is now : 90,000 available and with the further understanding that the Board of Public Works will petition the Town for further funds of approximately $45,000. Read note from Superintendent relative to proposed gravel walled well in aevay Meadow at location T.W. 19$8-22, so-called. It was moved, seconded and voted to install a gravel wall wail at location T.W. .1958-22 with submersible pump and connecting main to the pumping station now under construction. Temporarily adjourned at 8:30 P. M. to meet. as the Board of Survey, Reconvened at 9:00 P. M . Read note from Superintendent relative to puolishing the Town Report in reduced form. 18 It was agreed that the Superintendent would prepare an annual , report and submit it to Board at a later date. 1 Read note from Superintendent accompanied by a proposed sewer program for the years 1959 to 1963. It was moved, seconded and voted to postpone action until a later date so Board members can study proposal. Read note from Superintendent relative to amount of work to be done on skating areas. It was moved, seconded and voted to instruct Superintendent to do such work on skating areas as he feels is reasonaole and proper with due regard for budget considerations. Received letter from Weston & Sampson stating that they feel that the proposal to install a gravel walled well in Hundred Acre , Meadow at 1957 T.W. 15 and pump it for an extended period would not interfere with any proposal contained in their report nor would it interfere with the proposed timetable of improvements suggested by them. Read letter from Tichard Kurkjian, 57 Vine -treat protesting bill for sewer house connection more particularly the labor charges. Superintendent reported bill as rendered is correct as far as Department records are concerned and that word was done on January 3, 4, and 5, 1958 . I i 19 It was moved, seconded and voted not to approve any abatement unless a further investigation shows that the Town prosecuted the work in the Winter at its own choice. Received letter from Capital "xpenditures Comm, requesting information relative to proposed capital expenditures for the years 1959 to 1964, The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 P. M .
