AND VISITED SIDEWALK CONSTRUCTION - WASHINGTON STREET, SEWER CONSTRUCTION - MAIN STREET AND GLEASON ROAD. THE BOARD CONVENED IN ROOM 16, MUNICIPAL BUILDING AT 7:30 P.M. PRESENT WERE CHAIRMAN HODGKINS, SECRETARY FLORENCE, BOARD MEMBERS WATT AND WHITE AND ACTING SUPER- INTENDENT E. R. LouANIs. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING READ AND APPROVED. READ LETTER FROM MR. AND MRS. JOHN F. TAMMARO, 3 LAKEVIEW ROAD, REQUESTING PERMISSION TO CONNECT THEIR PROPERTY TO THE TOWN STORM DRAIN SYSTEM. TPR. FLORENCE MOVED, TPR. WATT SECONDED AND IT WAS VOTED PROVIDING THEY MAKE THE CONNECTION AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE AND THE CONTRACTOR FOLLOWS TOWN SPECIFICATIONS. THE BOARD ADJOURNED TEMPORARILY AT 7:50 P.M. TO MEET AS THE BOARD OF SURVEY. THE BOARD RECONVENED AT 8:00 P.M. PUBLIC HEARING WAS HELD AT 8:00 P.M. REGARDING A PROPOSED EASEMENT THROUGH PRIVATE PROPERTY WESTERLY OF JOHN STREET FOR DRAINAGE, SEWERAGE AND WATER PURPOSES. NOBODY ATTENDED THE HEARING. RELEASE FROM DAMAGES HAD BEEN SIGNED PREVIOUSLY BY TRUSTEES OF LILLIAN REALTY TRUST. THE BOARD SIGNED THE ORDER OF TAKING. SEE PLAN No. 500-3-145) READ LETTER FROM A. MEAN TOMLINSON, VICE PRES- IDENT, AMERICAN DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION WHICH , STATED THAT PIR. EHRENZELLER HAD BEEN ILL AND WOULD RETURN TO THE OFFICE IN TWO WEEKS AT WHICH TIME CERTAIN QUESTIONS POSED BY THE BOARD WOULD BE ANSWERED; ALSO THAT THE SO- CALLED BROCKTON REPORT WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL PROBA- BLY SEPTEMBER OR OCTOBER. THE BOARD WAS IN AGREEMENT THAT IF THE SO- CALLED BROCKTON REPORT AND MORE CONCRETE INFORMATION ON THE MELT-ZIT PROCESS ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO THE TOWN BY OCTOBER 15, THAT NEGOTIATIONS WITH AMERICAN DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION WILL BE SEVERED AND THE BOARD WILL CONSIDER CONVENTIONAL TYPE INCINERATION. THE AMERICAN DE- ' SIGN & DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION WILL BE SO NOTIFIED. MR. LOUANIS WAS REQUESTED TO CONTACT THE BaM OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF BROCKTON TO ASCERTAIN, IF POSSIBLE, MORE ABOUT THE STUDY WHICH WAS FUNDED IN PART BY THE U. S. PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE. PUBLIC HEARING WAS HELD AT 8:15 P.M. REGARDING THE PROPOSED EXTENSION OF THE MYSTIC VALLEY CAS COMPANY IN VILLAGE STREET IN A NORTHWESTERLY DIRECTION FROM #145 TO #141. LEWIS STOCKWELL REPRESENTED THE CAS COMPANY. MR. WHITE MOVED, Na. FLORENCE SECONDED AND IT WAS VOTED TO APPROVE THE REQUEST. ' J ' READ NOTE FROM MR. LOUANIS REGARDING TWO CHANGE ORDERS ON THE J. D 'AMICO INC. CONTRACT - INTERCEPTOR SEWER - AS FOLLOWS: CONSTRUCT MANHOLE #1 IN ACCORDANCE WITH M.D. C. RE- QUEST FOR AN OPENING TO PROVIDE FOR FUTURE M.D. C. RELIEF SEWER; PROVIDE 60-I1VCH DIAMETER PREFABRICATED MANHOLE BASE AND ADAPTER TO STANDARD 46 MANHOLE SECTION, TO AL- LOW AN ADEQUATE TABLE IN MANHOLE WITH 30-INCH I.D. PIPE INSTALLED; INCREASE CONTRACT TIME BY 61 CALENDAR DAYS FOR REASONS GIVEN IN LETTER DATED JUNE 25, 1968. CHANGE ORDER #2 IS AN EXTRA WORK ORDER FOR RESUR- FACING A PORTION OF BELMONT STREET AT AN ADDITIONAL COST OF $3, 170 TO THE TOWN. ' MAKING AN ADDITIONAL COST OF $8, 205. 00 TO THE TOWN. MR. FLORENCE MOVED, MR. WHITE SECONDED AND IT WAS VOTED TO APPROVE THE CHANGE ORDERS. THE BOARD SIGNED THE ORDERS. MR. FLORENCE MOVED, MR. WATT SECONDED AND IT WAS VOTED TO AUTHORIZE MR. HODGKINS TO SIGN PROJECT REQUEST FORM FOR CHAPTER 616, ACTS OF 1967. IT WILL BE REQUESTED THAT THE FUNDS BE ADDED TO THE RECONSTRUCTION OF HAVERHILL STREET. MR. LOUANIS ADVISED THE BOARD THAT HE HAD BEEN INFORMED BY THE COUNTY ENGINEERS THAT THE PORTION OF ' HAVERHILL STREET BETWEEN FRANKLIN STREET AND BATCHELDER ROAD DID NOT MEET THE 50-FOOT LAYOUT REQUIREMENT AND THAT ' LAND TAKINGS WOULD HAVE TO BE MADE. THE BOARD AGREED TO PROCEED WITH THE NECESSARY LAND TAKINGS. READ COPY OF LETTER CONFIRMING MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF WHITMAN & HOWARD, INC. AND METROPOLITAN DISTRICT COMMISSION ON SEPTEMBER 30 AT 8:00 P.M. TO DISCUSS READINGS WATER SUPPLY. IT WAS ACCEPTED AS A POINT OF IN- FORMATION. READ LETTER FROM EDWARD F. BROWN, 378 FRANKLIN STREET, REGARDING ERECTION OF A TRAFFIC SIGN NEAR HIS PROPERTY. THE LETTER WAS REFERRED TO THE BOARD OF SELECT- MEN. ' READ LETTER FROM CHARLES R. SWETT, 208 WEST STREET, EXPRESSING HIS APPRECIATION OF A JOB EFFICIENTLY AND WELL DONE. MR. SWETT REFERRED TO A BROKEN WATER PIPE WHICH CREATED AN EMERGENCY IN THE CELLAR. Na. HODGKINS SIGNED LETTER ADDRESSED TO JOSEPH CAPONE & SON INC. , SEWER CONTRACTOR, OUTLINING CERTAIN PROBLEMS AND REQUESTING THAT IMMEDIATE STEPS BE TAKEN TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION. READ LETTER FROM THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN AND MR. LOUANIS ' COMMENT REGARDING A PARCEL OF TAX TITLE LAND OFF CHARLES STREET ON THE NORTH SIDE OF TIMBERNECK BROOK. ALL ' ' NECESSARY EASEMENTS HAVE BEEN OBTAINED AND MR. LOUANIS SAW NO REASON FOR RETAINING THE PROPERTY. MR. WATT MOVED, MR. FLORENCE SECONDED AND IT WAS VOTED THAT THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN BE ADVISED THAT THE DE- PARTMENT HAD NO USE OR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE LAND AT THIS TIME. READ LETTER FROM JOHN PELLEGRINO, 2 MONTVALE STREET, MALDEN, OUTLINING HIS QUALIFICATIONS AS A LICENSED DRAIN LAYER; ALSO P.R. LOUANIS ' COMMENTS AND RECOMMENDATION THAT THE BOARD APPROVE HIS APPLICATION. Na. FLORENCE MOVED, MR. WATT SECONDED AND IT WAS ' VOTED TO APPROVE MR. PELLEGRINO 'S APPLICATION. MR. LOUANIS PRESENTED A SHORT PROGRESS REPORT ON VARIOUS PROJECTS IN THE DEPARTMENT. THE NEXT MEETING OF THE BOARD IS SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 26.
