MEETING OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OPENED AT
' 7:35 P.M. IN ROOM 16, MUNICIPAL BUILDING.
PRESENT WERE CHAIRMAN HODGKINS, BOARD MEMBERS WATT
AND WHITE, AND ACTING SUPERINTENDENT WATSON.
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING READ AND APPROVED.
READ NOTE FROM X.R. WELCH REGARDING THE BALANCE OF
$9, 575. 00 IN THE FRONT-END LOADER ACCOUNT AND HIS SUGGESTION
THAT IT BE TRANSFERRED TO THE ROAD MACHINERY OPERATING AC-
COUNT. ARTICLE HAS BEEN INSERTED IN THE WARRANT FOR THE
SPECIAL TOWN MEETING TO BE HELD JUNE 10. THE BOARD DISCUSSED
THE MOTION.
MR WATT MOVED, MR. WHITE SECONDED AND IT WAS VOTED
TO RETURN THE UNEXPENDED MONEY IN THE AMOUNT OF $9, 575. 00 TO
' THE ROAD MACHINERY FUND. Na. HODGKINS WILL CHECK THE ITEM
WITH TOWN COUNSEL.
THE BOARD READ REPORT FROM SUPERINTENDENT WELCH
REGARDING BIDS ON FUEL OIL AND HIS RECOMMENDATION THAT THE
DEPARTMENT REQUEST THE BID FOR #2 FUEL OIL, SERVICE AND
PARTS BE AWARDED TO GIBBS OIL COMPANY OF SAUGUS AT A PRICE
OF 0. 122 CENTS PER GALLON.
THE BOARD DISCUSSED THE BIDS. MR. WHITE MOVED
THAT THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS REQUEST THE BOARD OF SELECT-
MEN TO ACCEPT THE BID OF GIBBS OIL COMPANY, X.R. WATT SECONDED
AND THE MOTION CARRIED.
READ LETTER FROM RALPH M. SOULE OF CAMP, DRESSER
' MCKEE, EXPRESSING THEIR THANKS TO MESSRS. WESTON AND LOUANIS
FOR THEIR COOPERATION AND THOROUGHNESS IN DESCRIBING AND DEMON-
STRATING THE OPERATION OF THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT AT 100
ACRES RECENTLY. MR. SOULE ACCOMPANIED A GROUP OF PAKISTANI '
ENGINEERS WHO ARE RECEIVING TRAINING IN THE PRACTICAL AS-
PECTS OF SANITARY ENGINEERING .
Za. HODGKINS REPORTED TO THE BOARD ON THE MEETING
HELD HAY 15 OF TOWN BOARDS AND STANDING COMMITTEES AT WHICH
HE WAS ASKED FOR A PROGRESS REPORT ON THE INCINERATOR. MR.
HODGKINS QUESTIONED THE BOARD IN REGARD TO SHOWING A TECHNI-
CAL FILM BY AMERICAN DESIGN d DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION ON THE
MELT-31T PROCESS AT THE SPECIAL TOWN HEFTING ON JUNE 10.
THIS WOULD NOT NECESSARILY BE AN ENDORSEMENT. HR. LATHAN,
TOWN MODERATOR, WILL ACCEPT IT AS A REPORT OF PROGRESS. THE
BOARD WAS IN AGREEMENT.
SCHEDULED MEETINGS OF THE BOARD FOR THE NEXT MONTH ,
WILL BE JUNE 3 AND 17. SPECIAL TOWN MEETING WILL BE HELD
JUNE 10.
DATA ON THE SPARTAN MISSILE COMPLEX EMBRACING
AREAS IN READING AND LYNNFIELD WAS PRESENTED TO THE BOARD.
IT WAS ACCEPTED AS A POINT OF INFORMATION.
THE BOARD SIGNED THE BILLROLL DATED MAY 17 AND
PAYROLL FOR THE PERIOD HAY 11 THROUGH HAY 17.
