PRESENT WERE CHAIRMAN HODGKINS, SECRETARY FLORENCE, BOARD MEMBERS COCHRANE AND WHITE, AND ACTING SUPERINTENDENT WATSON. MR. HODGKINS ENTERTAINED A MOTION TO APPOINT WILLIAM H. WATT AS SUCCESSOR TO EDWARD C. WRIGHT. MR. COCHRANE MOVED THAT WILLIAM H. WATT BE APPOINTED A MEMBER OF THE BOARD TO FILL THE VACANCY CREATED BY THE RESIGNA- TION OF EDWARD C. WRIGHT WHOSE TERM EXPIRES IN 1970, HR. ' FLORENCE SECONDED AND IT WAS VOTED UNANIMOUSLY. PIR. WATT WAS DULY SWORN IN AND JOINED THE MEETING. PUBLIC HEARING WAS HELD AT 7:45 P.M. IN ROOM 16 REGARDING A PETITION OF THE NEW ENGLAND TELEPHONE & TELE- GRAPH COMPANY AND TOWN OF READING MUNICIPAL LIGHT COMPANY OF A JOINT POLE LOCATION: ELM STREET: NORTH SIDE, APPROXIMATELY ONE HUN- DRED THIRTY (130) FEET WESTERLY OF POLE 20/3 REMOVE ONE (1) POLE. ALSO, NORTH SIDE, APPROXIMATELY ONE HUNDRED TWENTY FIVE (125) FEET WESTERLY OF POLE 2013, PLACE ONE (1) POLE. THREE PERSONS ATTENDED THE HEARING . FRANK GRAUPNER REPRE-SENTED THE READING PIUNICIPAL LIGHT DEPARTMENT. THE MESSRS. ZARELLA, ABUTTORS, VOTED IN FAVOR OF THE RELOCATION. , PIR. COCHRANE MOVED, PIR. FLORENCE SECONDED AND IT WAS VOTED TO APPROVE THE PETITION. IT WAS MOVED, SECONDED AND VOTED TO GO INTO E%ECUTIVE SESSION WITH TOWN COUNSEL TO DISCUSS CONDITIONS IN THE BRADFORD-FIELDING ROAD AREA. THE MEETING CONTINUED IN OPEN SESSION. THE BOARD DISCUSSED REQUEST FROM ERIC SAHLBERG, TRUSTEE, VICTORIAN TRUST, FOR PERMISSION TO CONNECT LOTS Z, 3 AND Jr SUNNYSIDE AVENUE TO THE PUBLIC STORM DRAIN IN SUNNYSIDE AVENUE. MR. SAHLBERG HAD SIGNED RELEASE FROM DAMAGES. MR. WHITE WAS OF THE OPINION THAT THE LOTS ' SHOULD BE TIED INTO THE SANITARY SEWER BEFORE THE DRAINS ARE CONNECTED. MR. FLORENCE MOVED, MR. WHITE SECONDED AND IT WAS VOTED THAT PERMISSION BE GRANTED TO MR. SAHLBERG TO MAKE THE CONNECTIONS TO THE PUBLIC STORM DRAIN ACCORDING TO TOWN SPECIFICATIONS. MR. WATSON REPORTED TO THE BOARD ON HIS CONFER- ENCE WITH W. S. EHRENZELLER AND GEORGE E. FICKETT OF THE AMERICAN DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION ON FRIDAY, MAY 3. ACCORDING TO THE ACTING SUPERINTENDENT, THE REPORT WAS MORE OR LESS LENGTHY AND EVIDENTLY NEEDED EDITING. ' MR. EHRENZELLER TOOK THE REPORT BACK TO WHITMAN WHERE IT ' WILL BE CONDENSED TO PAGE SIZE AND BE IN THE HANDS OF THE DEPARTMENT BY THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK. AFTER SUPERINTENDENT WELCH HAS EXAMINED THE REPORT, A SPECIAL MEETING WILL BE SCHEDULED WITH THE BOARD AND THE REPRESENTATIVES FROM AMER- ICAN DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT. ACCORDING TO N.R. WATSON, NO MENTION WAS MADE OF THE BROCKTON STUDY. READ LETTER FROM J. D 'AMIco INC. TO CHARLES B. PEASE, PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR-CONSTRUCTION GRANTS PROGRAM, REGARDING INCORRECT CERTIFICATION ON THE PAYROLL FORM. THE LETTER WAS ACCEPTED AS A POINT OF INFORMATION. THE BOARD DISCUSSED THE SUMMER MEETING SCHEDULE. ' H.B. FLORENCE MOVED, MR. WHITE SECONDED AND IT WAS VOTED THAT THE SUMMER MEET]NGS WILL BE SCHEDULED BY THE CHAIRMAN. PIR. HODGKINS PLANS ON SCHEDULING TWO MEETINGS IN JUNE AND THE REST AT THE DISCRETION OF THE CHAIR. MR. HODGKINS APPOINTED WILLIAM H. WATT REPRESENTA- TIVE ON THE SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION COMMITTEE FOR THE YEAR 1968 TO FILL THE VACANCY CREATED BY MR. WRIGHT 'S RESIGNATION.
