HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-10-09 Board of Public Works Minutes OCTOBER 9, 1867 i6w MEETING OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OPENED AT 7:50 P.M. IN ROOM 16, MUNICIPAL BUILDING . PRESENT WERE CHAIRMAN KENNEY, SECRETARY HODGKINS, BOARD MEMBER FLORENCE AND SUPERINTENDENT WELCH. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING READ AND APPROVED. MR. FLORENCE MOVED, MR. HODGKINS SECONDED AND IT WAS VOTED TO ACCEPT THE RECOMMENDATIONS PRESENTED BY THE SUPERINTENDENT AND APPROVE SALARY INCREASES FOR NINE OF THE LOWER PAID EMPLOYEES, RETROACTIVE TO SEPTEMBER 30, 1967. .THE LIST WILL BE SUBMITTED TO THE PERSONNEL BOARD FOR AP- PRO VAL . READ LETTER FROM ERIC SAHLBERG, TRUSTEE, VIC- TORIAN TRUST, REQUESTING PERMISSION TO EXTEND A DRAIN FROM UNDER THE FOUNDATION OF HOUSE ON LOT #9 VICTORIA AVENUE TO THE CATCH BASIN AT THE CORNER OF VICTORIA AVENUE AND SUNNYSIDE AVENUE. IT WAS AGREED THAT APPROVAL WOULD BE WITHHELD UNTIL A DETAIL SKETCH IS SUBMITTED. MR. FLORENCE STATED THAT HE WOULD LIKE TO SEE A PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE ATTACHED TO THE VEHICULAR TRAFFIC BRIDGE AT MINERAL STREET. Na. FLORENCE WAS OF THE OPINION THAT DUE TO THE INCREASED TRAFFIC AND POOR VISIBILITY OVER THE BRIDGE, SOMEONE COULD BE HURT. THE BOARD DISCUSSED CONSTRUCTION OF A TRESTLE AT THE SITE. THE SUPERINTENDENT ESTIMATED A COST OF ABOUT $15, 000. 00. IT WAS AGREED TO LOOK INTO THE MATTER FURTHER, AND IF THE BOARD FAVORED CONSTRUCTION OF A TRESTLE, AN ARTICLE WOULD BE INSERTED IN THE WARRANT FOR TOWN MEETING REQUESTING THE APPROPRIATION. MR. WRIGHT JOINED THE MEETING. THE BOARD SIGNED THE FOLLOWING: CONTRACT - GRAVEL WALL WELL - D. L. MASER d CO .
