MEETING OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OPENED AT
7:30 P.M. IN ROOM 16, MUNICIPAL BUILDING .
PRESENT WERE CHAIRMAN KENNEY, SECRETARY HODGKINS,
BOARD MEMBER COCHRANE AND SUPERINTENDENT WELCH.
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING READ AND APPROVED.
MR. COCHRANE MOVED, MR. HODGKINS SECONDED AND IT
WAS VOTED TO RAISE THE MEAL ALLOWANCE FOR PERSONNEL DURING
AN EMERGENCY FROM $1 . 25 PER PERSON TO $1 . 75.
READ NOTICE OF ALLOTMENTS FROM THE MASSACHUSETTS
' DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS ON CHAPTER 90 MAINTENANCE AND
CONSTRUCTION. THE DATA WAS ACCEPTED AS A POINT OF INFORMA-
TION.
READ NOTE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT WITH REFERENCE
TO THE AWARDING OF THE CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF NO. 2
FUEL OIL AT A PRICE OF $0. 1103 PER GALLON, EXCLUDING SERVICE
OR PARTS OF ANY NATURE; ALSO THE BID BY A LOCAL CONTRACTOR
OF $0. 124 PER GALLON WHICH INCLUDED PARTS AND SERVICE. MR.
WELCH CITED THE ADDED COST TO THE DEPARTMENT DURING 1966 FOR
SERVICE AND PARTS.
ITR. COCHRANE MOVED THAT THE FACTS AS OUTLINED BE
PRESENTED TO THE SELECTMEN, MR. HODGKINS SECONDED AND THE
MOTION CARRIED .

INSTALL A BZ U INOUS CONCRETE SIDEWALK TO THE STREET LINE

WITHOUT A CURBING . HR. COCHRANE MOVED THAT THE PETITION
BE DENIED, Na. HODGKINS SECONDED AND IT WAS VOTED.
RECEIVED REQUEST FROM THE NEW ENGLAND TELEPHONE
COMPANY-READING MUNICIPAL LIGHT DEPARTMENT TO RELOCATE POLE
ON ELLIOTT STREET - WESTERLY SIDE - POLE 21/3, APPROXIMATELY
13 FEET NORTH NORTHWESTERLY.
MR. COCHRANE MOVED, Na. HODGKINS SECONDED AND IT
WAS VOTED TO APPROVE THE REQUEST.

Town of Reading, in compliance with the provisions of
General Laws, Chapter 80, as amended by Chapter 63 of the
Acta of 1933, hereby certify that the list herewith contains
the names of persona against whom we have made betterment
assessments , together with the location of the land benefited
by the improvement and the nature and amount of such better-
ment assessment.
And such list is certified to you for the purpose
of committing the same to the Tax Collector, as provided by
law.
