HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-01-16 Board of Public Works Minutes JANUARY 16, 1967 MEETING OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OPENED AT 7:30 P.M. IN ROOM 16, MUNICIPAL BUILDING. PRESENT WERE CHAIRMAN COCHRANE, SECRETARY WATT, BOARD MEMBERS FLORENCE AND HODGKINS AND ASSISTANT SUPER- INTENDENT WATSON. MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING READ AND AP- PROVED AS AMENDED. IN DISCUSSING THE MINUTES REGARDING THE ACCEP- TANCE OF SHACKFORD ROAD AS A PUBLIC WAY, WITH REFERENCE TO THE SUPERINTENDENTS SUGGESTION THAT SOME ALLOWANCE ' SHOULD BE MADE FOR EVERETT J. AND THELMA E. DOUCETTE, IT WAS H.R. WATTS OPINION THAT ALL ABUTTERS SHOULD RECEIVE EQUAL TREATMENT . THE MINUTES WERE AMENDED ACCORDINGLY. READ COPY OF LETTER FROM THE READING GARDEN CLUB - CIVIC AND CONSERVATION COMMITTEE - TO THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN REQUESTING THAT THE AREA KNOWN AS THE NIKE SITE ON HAVERHILL STREET BE TURNED OVER TO THE READING CONSERVATION COMMISSSION TO BE HELD AND ADMINISTERED BY THIS COMMISSION FOR THE BENEFIT AND PROTECTION OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC OF THE TOWN OF READING . THE LETTER WAS ACCEPTED AS A POINT OF INFORMATION. THE BOARD RECEIVED PETITION FOR THE ACCEPTANCE OF TRACK ROAD, BEGINNING WITH THE JUNCTION OF TRACK AND HARVEST ROADS AND ENDING WITH TRACK AND LINE ROADS 45 THROUGH 77 WESTERLY PART OF TRACK ROAD FROM HARVEST ROAD THROUGH TO LINE ROAD . FIVE PERSONS ATTENDED THE HEARING . THE CONDI- TION OF THE ROAD WAS DISCUSSED. IT WAS AGREED THAT THE ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT WILL CHECK OUT THE ROAD AND RE- PAIR WHERE THE WATER MAIN WAS INSTALLED. THE CHAIRMAN SUGGESTED THAT THE PETITIONERS CONTACT THE ABUTTERS ON THE EASTERLY PORTION OF TRACK ROAD. MR. WATT MOVED, Na. HODGKINS SECONDED AND IT WAS VOTED THAT THE DEPARTMENT PROCEED WITH THE LAYOUT OF THE ROAD, ESTIMATE OF THE COST AND HEARING . THE HOARD SIGNED THE BILLROLL DATED JANUARY 13 AND PAYROLL FOR THE PERIOD JANUARY 7 THROUGH JANURY 13, 1967. MEETING ADJOURNED AT 8:15 P.M. RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED, hvj GC�cZ SECRETARY
