A meeting of the Law Committee was held today at 8:30 P.M.
Arthur Coolidge, Arthur Cook, Dr. Edward Halligan, Albert M. Leman
and Harold W. Putnam were present.
There was a discussion of the duties and salaries of the town
counsels in other towns as given in a report made by workers on the
Civil Works Project. It was moved by Mr. Johnson that the Law
Committee recommend the salary of the town counsel be $1200 for the
year beginning March 1934. It was unanimously voted.
Mr. Leman spoke of a proposed change in the Law Committee. No
action was taken.
Mr. Cook told of several tax suits and asked that money be
appropriated to provide means of settlement.
A motion was made that "$25.00 be appropriated to cover expense
in the case of Melvina Buck versus the Assessors. It was so voted.
It was then moved that $50.00 be appropriated to cover expense
In the case of Investment Realty Company versus the Assessors. It
was so voted.
It was then moved that $125.00 be appropriated to cover the
expense in the cases of the Sanborn Apartments and Ray Spevak versus
the Assessors. It was so voted.
A motion was then made to send a copy of the records of the last
meeting to the Board of Public Works and it was so voted.
The meeting adjourned at 10:45 P.M.
