_ A special meeting of the Law Committee was held this day at 7:30 P.91.
I The meeting was called at the request of the Board of Public Works to
I consider the duties of the Town Counsel as outlined in the Town By-laws
of the town.
Those present were A. N. Leman, H. R. Johnsen, Arthur Cook, H. W. Put-
nam. iw.Y 4&�_ C.�
The chairman explained that many payments had been made to the Town
Counsel and other lawyers for looking up titles and other expenses and
the Board of Public Works had asked the Law Committee to determine whether
or not this and other work should be considered a part of the Town Counsels
duties:..as outlined in the Town By-laws and considered din his compensation
paid by the town.
The By-lawapertalning to the duties of this officer was read and
thoroughly discussed and the following motion was made and passed:-
That all legal services remiired'by vote of the Town or any board of
town offices shall be performadiby..the Town Counsel and shall be included
in his fixed salary.
It was then moved and voted that a copy of this vote be sent to the--
Town
he'Town Counsel.
It was the census of opinion that the Twon Counsel 's fixed salary
should be increased but in order to properly consider such an increase,

.additional information should be obtained.
R The secretary agreed to obtain a list of the gereral work performed
bu the Twwn Counsel.
The chairman, copies of bills paid for looking up titles and other
expenses by the town.
Mr. Cook to determine the salary of Town counsel and work performed
by him in Wakef Seld,and Stoneham, Per. Johnson in Concord and Lexington,
Mr. Coolidge in Needham, Norwood and Andover.
The chairman agreed to call another meeting of the committee within
a short time for further consideration.
