HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981-02-09 Board of Public Works Minutes February 9 , 1961 Meeting of the Board of Public Works convened in Room 16, Municipal Building at 7: 30 P. M. Present were Chairman Cowell, Secretary Wood , Board Members DeHart, Fallon, Barker , Superintendent Louanis, Assistant Super- intendent Bergeron and Assistant Superintendent McIntire. It was moved, seconded and voted 5 :0:0 to accept the minutes of January 29th and February 2d as corrected . The Board adjourned the meeting temporarily at 7:42 P.M. to meet with the Personnel Board in Room 19 of the Community Center , and reconvened at 9:21 P .M. in Room 16 of the Municipal Building. Mr. Fallon moved , it was seconded and voted 5 :0:0 to accept the Board of Public Works Executive Session minutes of February 5, 1981 and to remove them from executive privilege. Mr . Fallon requested the Chairman schedule a meeting with the nonunion personnel and the Board in order that the Board may report to the nonunion people on the status of the Board ' s posi- tion on nonunion personnel matters. Mr. Cowell suggested a meet- ing on February 12th at 3:30 P .M. with as many Board Members attending as possible . It was agreed that Mr. Cowell , Mrs. Wood and Mr . Fallon would be available and the Superintendent was instructed to inform the employees. The meeting adjourned temporarily at 9:45 P.M. to meet as the Board of Survey and reconvened at 9: 55 P.M. The Board read notice from the Board of Appeals regarding a hearing on Wednesday , February 18 , 1981 at 8:00 P.M. on a petition of the United Church Hames of Reading, Inc, who seek a compre- hensive permit to construct housing for the elderly at 34-42 Bay State Road and adjoining parcels of land on Haverhill Street. The Chairman informed the Board this was the beginning of pro- cedure similar to that pursued by McNeil Associates for the housing project on Main Street . It was suggested that any Board members interested might attend the hearing. The Superintendent pointed out that at some point in time it will be necessary for the peti- tioners to seek approval of a site plan and utility plan from the Board of Public Works and the Board of Survey . The notice was accepted as a point of information. The Board signed the Billroll and the Payroll . Meetiiinn/ngg,, �/ adjourned at 10:05 P .M.
