A meeting of the Board of Public Works convened in Room 16,
Municipal Building at 7:30 P.M. Present were Chairman Cowell, Secretary
Wood, Board Members DeHart, Fallon and Barker, Superintendent E. Roger
Louanis, Assistant Superintendents McIntire and Bergeron and Finance
Committee Member Norman Black.
The Board reviewed the following budget sheets:
ADMINISTRATION - The following action was taken:
It was moved, seconded and voted 5:0 to approve Department Head's Salary
to 833,450. It was moved, seconded and voted 5:0 to approve Personnel
Salaries to $14,262. It was moved, seconded and voted 4: 1 to approve
Office Supplies at $1,648. It was moved, seconded and voted 3:2 to
approve Office Equipment at $1,000. It was moved, seconded and voted 4: 1
to approve the Total Salaries of $56,522. It was moved, seconded and
voted 3:2 to approve Total Expenses of $8,949. It was moved, seconded and
voted 5:0 to approve a total budget for Administration of $65,471.
The Board reviewed the Engineering Division budget and after
considerable discussion, it was moved, seconded and voted 5: 0 to table
action on this budget until January 11, 1982.
The Board reviewed Sheet 3 - HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE PATCH -
It was moved, seconded and voted 4: 1 to approve Materials at $11,300.
It was moved, seconded and voted 4: 1 to approve Total Salaries at $18,646.
It was moved, seconded and voted 5:0 to approve Total Expenses at $36,900.
It was moved, seconded and voted 5:0 to approve Total Budget of $55,746.

The Board reviewed Sheet 4 - HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE CHIP SEAL -
It was moved, seconded and voted to approve materials at $25,000, the
Motion lost 2:3.
It was moved, seconded and voted 4: 1 to approve Salaries at $22, 150. It
was moved, seconded and voted 4: 1 to approve Expenses at $74,913. It was
moved, seconded and voted 4: 1 to approve Total Budget of $97,063.
The Board reviewed Sheet 5 - HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE OVERLAY - After
considerable discussion, it was moved, seconded and voted 5:0 to table
action until January 11, 1982.
The Board reviewed Sheet 6 - HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE SWEEPING -
It was moved, seconded and voted 5:0 to approve Salaries at $11,915. It
was moved, seconded and voted 5:0 to approve Expenses at $19,706. It was
moved, seconded and voted 5:0 to approve Total Budget of $31,621.
Mr. Fallon requested the Chairman to establish a meeting to
discuss the personnel problems of the Department. After some discussion,
it was agreed a possible date for such a meeting might be January 28
depending on the progress of the Boards action on the Budget for FY83..
However, a more likely date is probably February 4, 1982.
The meeting adjourned at 11: 10 P.M.
