HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-11-30 Board of Public Works Minutes November 30, 1964 Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building. Present were Chairman Kenney, Board Member Florence and Superintendent Welch. Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved. Read note from the Superintendent which stated that all salary funds in the Sewer House Connections Account have been used. It was agreed that the Board will request a trans- fer of $1,$00.00 from the Reserve Fund which will enable the Department to install six to eight more connections. The Board accepted as a point of information Pro- posed Sewer Program 1965 through 1970 as prepared by the Superintendent. The Board conferred with Messrs. Donley, McSheehy, Toperzer and Vaughan of the Recreation Committee. Discussed were the items of construction - Parks and Playgrounds, and the Proposed Program for 1965 through 1970. Mr. Donley stated that a walkaway to the swimming pool from the upper parking level and landscaping around the pool should receive top priority in 1965, followed by installation of three tennis courts at Birch Meadow in 1966. The program was discussed in general for the period through 1970. Read letter from Frank L. Heaney - Camp, Dresser & McKee, with reference to viewing of refuse incinerator. It 1 ;'8 was agreed that the Board would visit the plant in Lowell, expected to be in operation by the middle of December,rather +] than journey to New Haven, Connecticut. Mr. Heaney will be so advised.
