Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:40 P.M.
in Room 16, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Kenney, Secretary Cochrane, Board
Members Leonard and Watt and Superintendent Welch.
Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved.
The Board reviewed the General Regulations and the Fee
Schedule of the Dump. Two suggestions were made; namely, elimi-
nation of Item 5 under Fee Schedule and insertion of Item 9 under
General Regulations which listed certain rubbish which could not
be deposited in the Dump.
It was suggested that Item 5 be continued under General
' [[ Regulations with the items listed which would be rejected at the
i Dump.
Mr. Leonard moved, Mr. Cochrane seconded and it was
voted that clarification be made of sub-titles and articles which
will be rejected, and state that the Board still reserves the
right to reject any rubbish, the Superintendent acting for the
Board in that determination. The Superintendent will prepare the
item for submission to the Board for approval.
Hearing was held at 8:00 P.M. for the purpose of taking
an easement for drainage and sewerage purposes from Pleasant Street
in a southerly direction to Eaton Street.
Four persons attended the hearing. The Superintendent
described the project. The abuttors voted as follows: - In favor -
3; opposed - 0; non-committal - 1.
Read letter signed by abuttors on the north side of
Pleasant Street between Middle and John Streets regarding the de-

plorable condition of the sidewalk in that area and requesting
that a new sidewalk be installed in 1964, and the Superintendent's ,
suggestion that both curb and sidewalk be placed and betterments
assessed.
Mr. Watt moved that serious consideration be given to
installation of sidewalk and curb on the north side of Pleasant
Street between Middle and John Streets if funds are available;
Mr. Cochrane seconded and it was voted.
Conference scheduled at 8:30 P.M. with the Board of
Health was cancelled at the request of Dr. Charles R. Baisley,
Chairman.
Received applications from Richard B. Chesley, 50 Pratt
Street for sloped curbing and Leon A. LaFreniere, 54 Pratt Street
for a bituminous concrete sidewalk and sloped curbing. 1
Mr. Leonard moved that the applications be denied due ■i
to lack of funds; Mr. Watt seconded and it was voted.
Read letter from Mrs. Lorraine C. Clifford, 20 Hill-
crest Road, regarding condition of tree lawn and atone wall on
her property. It was agreed that the tree lawn will be loamed
and seeded and a study made of the storm drain facilities in this
area. The Superintendent will so advise Mrs. Clifford.
The Board discussed in detail information on assess-
ments for storm drains and sewers as prepared by the Superin-
tendent.
The Board considered installation of a sidewalk on the
Westerly side of West Street from Arcadia Avenue to opposite
Selfridge Road. Mr. Watt moved, Mr. Cochrane seconded and it was

voted to have the Superintendent prepare an estimate on the in-
stallation of the aforementioned sidewalk. Hearing will be
scheduled.
Mr. Kenney reported to the Board that Edward W. Palmer,
Chairman of the School Committee, had requested a meeting with
the Board of Public Works and the Chief of Police in regard to
vandalism. Mr. Watt moved, Mr. Cochrane seconded and it was
voted that the Chairman represent the Board of Public Yorks at
the meeting.
It was agreed that the Board of Public Works would not
participate moneywise in the requested rat eradication program
at Tennyson Road.
It was agreed that as a result of the meeting at 7:00
P.M. with the Insurance Committee, the Board authorize the
Superintendent to discuss the matter of the payments with the
Insurance Company representative to ascertain what arrangements
can be made to pay same.

General Laws, Cha,;)tar 80, as amended by Chapter 63 of
the Acts of 1933, hereby certify that the list herewith
contains the names of persons against whom we have made
oetterment assessments, together with the location of
the land benefited by the improvement and the nature and
amount of such betterment assessment.
And such list is certified to you for the ;,ur-
pose of oosmitting the same to the Tax Collector, as
provided by law.
