April 6; 1964
Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30
P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Kenney, Secretary Cochrane,
Board Members Florence, Leonard and Watt, and Superintendent
Welch.
Minutes of the, previous meeting read and approved.
Read note from the Superintendent in regard to the
removing and dropping into basins of catch basin covers and the
dangerous conditions which are being created.
Mr. Leonard moved, Mr. Florence seconded and it was
voted that an item be inserted in the. Reading Chronicle and
' letters sent to the Board of� Selectmen and School Department
citing the dangerous conditions created and requesting their
cooperation in asking that the practice desist.
Read list of Sewer Construction bidder's and brief re-
port on T. D. Sullivan & Sons Co., low bidder. Dun & Bradstreet
reports were received on three low bidders and will be studied
by the Board Members and discussed at the next Board Meeting.
Mr. Watt moved, Mr. Florence seconded and it was voted
to confer with Mr. Sullivan at the April 13 meeting.
Read letter from the Board of Selectmen regarding sale
to Edward H. Smith of 63 Colburn Road, of Tax Title property
#463, being land numbered 93 through 101, and containing approx-
imately 22,744 square feet, and the Superintendent's suggestion
' that the land be retained at the present time because of the in-
installation of the large water main in this area and the con-
templated development at the end of Colburn Road.

Mr. Leonard moved, Mr. Florence seconded and it was
voted to recommend retention of the land to the Board of Select-
men.
The Board reviewed the list of bidders for Chemicals
for the Water Treatment Plant. Mr. Florence moved, Mr. Leonard
seconded and the motion carried to award the chemical bid to
Geo. Mann & Co., Inc.
The Board conferred with Mrs. Ruth Greene, lj Pris-
cilla Road in regard to an abatement on her Sewer House Connec-
tion bill. The Superintendent explained the costs.
It was moved, seconded and voted that the meeting go
into Executive Session to discuss the abatement. The meeting
continued in open session.
Mr. Leonard moved and Mr. Florence seconded that the
bill be abated to read $230.00. Mr. Cochrane amended the motion
to read that the sum of $36.27 be abated with a resultant bill
of $260.00, Mr. Watt seconded and the amendment carried.
