HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-03-02 Board of Public Works Minutes _ 17 March 2, 1964 Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building. Present were Secretary Kenney, Board Members Cochrane and Leonard and Superintendent Welch. In the absence of Mr.Watt, Mr. Kenney acted as Chairman. Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved as amended. Read note from the Superintendent in regard to the use of wading pools after the completion of the new swimming pool. It was moved, seconded and voted that the information be placed on file. The Board read and the Acting Chairman signed letter to the Board of Selectmen in regard to the parking of cars on tra- velled ways and sidewalks. It was moved, seconded and voted to accept the supple- mental report on rubbish disposal from Camp, Dresser & McKee as a point of information. The Board signed petitions for refiling with the State for channel improvements to a portion of the Aberjona River in Reading. Mr. Leonard moved, Mr. Cochrane seconded and it was in voted to continue the meeting7executive session. The compromise salary increase schedule as approved by the Personnel Board was discussed. The several general subdi- visions were considered and discussed in detail. The effects on the budget were considered and various possibilities discussed. After considering matters of personnel, the meeting continued as an open meeting. The proposed cuts in the budget were discussed and possible alternates considered. Due to the fact that the Finance Committee reports have been published and to eliminate possible confusion at the Town Meeting, it was agreed that no attempt should be made to change the budget items now. The Board signed Billroll dated February 28, 1964; payroll for the period February 22 through February 28, 1964. Meeting adjourned at 9:10 P.M. Respectfully submitted, , Secrot y
