Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30
P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Cochrane, Secretary Watt, Board
Member Kenney and Superintendent Welch.
Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved.
Public hearing was held at 7:45 P.M. regarding the pro-
posed location of a sole Telephone Company pole on Woburn Street -
North side, approximately 81 feet Easterly of Berkeley Street.
Mr. George Cooley represented the New England Telephone
& Telegraph Company at the Hearing. Mr. Kenney moved the petition
be approved, Mr. Watt seconded and it was voted.
Mr. Galvin joined the meeting.
The Board adjourned to Room 2.
Public Hearing was held for the purpose of taking an
' easement for drainage and sewerage purposes from Sturges Road to
Sturges Park.
Sixteen persons attended the Hearing. Questions were
asked regarding size of pipe, width of easement, and time schedule.
Mr. Welch explained the Release from Damages to the abuttors and
also stated that the Board of. Public Works would be pleased to
receive 100% cooperation, both in the Releases and waiving any
claim. The ebuttors were polled as follows: - In favor - 12; op-
posed - 0; non-committal - 3• Town Engineer Lousnis explained
the plans after the official hearing was over.
Read note from the Superintendent in regard to the hold-
ing of meetings on December 27, 1965 and January 3, 1966. Mr.
Kenney moved that if necessary, meetings would be held on cell of
Chairman Cochrane, Mr. Watt seconded and it was voted .
' Read note from the Superintendent stating that the Fi-
nance Committee had approved the giving of the old oil burner
( salvaged from the Garage) to the Library. Delivery has been made.
Read note from Mr. Welch suggesting elimination of
the water restrictions. After a short discussion, it was the
consensus of the Board that the restrictions should remain.
The Board discussed the possible flooding of the
skating areas from hydrants if requested. The Board reached no
decision.
The Board considered the first 12 pages of the 1966
Budget which included the following: -
Administration
Engineering Division
Highway Construction and Maintenance
Drainage Construction
Storm Drains - Maintenance
Sidewalk Construction and Maintenance
Parking Areas
Parks and Playgrounds
Parks and Playgrounds - Special Appropriation
Birch Meadow Development
Town Dump
Water Construction and Maintenance
Discussion will be resumed at the meeting of November 29.
It was agreed that the Members will meet at the Town
Hall Parking Lot at 10:00 A.M. , November 27, to visit various
Public Works projects.
The Board signed the Billroll dated November 19 and
the Payroll for the period November 13 through November 19.
The meeting adjourned at 9:50 P.M. to meet as the
Board of Survey.
