Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M.
in Room 16, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Cochrane, Secretary Watt, Board
Member Kenney and Superintendent Welch.
Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved .
Read joint petition from New England Telephone & Tele-
graph Company and Town of Reading-Municipal Light Department, re-
garding pole relocation on Prescott Street - Northerly side, re-
located Pole 77/10 approximately 16 feet Easterly. Mr. Kenney
moved, Mr. Watt seconded and it was voted that the petition be
approved .
The Board reconsidered lifting of the water restrictions.
' According to the Superintendent, the water level in both wellfields
has remained about even the past week.
Mr. Watt moved, Mr. Kenney seconded and it was voted not
to release the water restrictions and reconsider it again October 4.
Read letter from the State of Massachusetts, Department of
Public Works, advising that M. Ruta Construction Company had written
requesting permission to sublet items of work (pertaining to bitumi-
nous concrete and applied bitumen items) under their Chapter 90
contract with the Town of Reading, covering highway work on a sec-
tion of Haverhill Street.
Mr. Kenney moved, Mr. Cochrane seconded and it was voted
that the request be approved.
The Board opened bids at 8:00 P. M. on One (1 ) Smell
Track Laying Tractor. Bids follow: -

Bids were taken under advisement.
The Board adjourned temporarily at 8:10 P.M. to meet as
the Board of Survey.
The Board reconvened at 8:25 P.M. with Mr. Florence in
attendance.
Mr. Florence stated that as he made the motion in regard
to hiring Consulting Engineers to design an incinerator at the
meeting P o£ September 20, he wished to move that the Superintendent
be instructed to draft a letter to the Superintendents and Di-
rectors of the Boardsof Public Works in the Towns of North Reading,
Stoneham, Wakefield and Lynnfield ascertaining their intentions
and their reactions to incineration; Mr. Kenney seconded.
A discussion followed. The letter will be submitted at
the meeting of October4 for editing and will be strictly explora-
tory. The motion carried.
The Board signed the Billroll dated September 24, 1965.
