Ten persons attended the hearing. Mr. Robert Rand represented the Mystic Valley Gas Company. Sohn Cronin, 1103 Pearl Street, presented a petition to the Board signed by 28 persons residing in the area who wished to be recorded as opposed to the proposed extension of the gas line from 371 Pearl Street to Main Street. Mr. Cronin contended that although the gas main had been extended in Pearl Street from Willard Road, only one abuttor (an employee of Mystic Valley) had connected to it. The question was raised as to whether or not a gas main had been laid in Main Street and why it could not be extended . The people attending the, meeting strongly protested the installs- tion of the gas main past their homes. A discussion followed. It was stated that the Board is forced to grant lo- cations as it sees fit. Polling is not the same as an else- tion but just an indication. The point to be considered is the I general value to the whole town as well as the individual case. i When polled, the abuttors were unanimous in their opposition ' to the installation. Mr. Watt moved that action be held in abeyance until it is definitely established that no gas main exists in this portion of Main Street; Mr. Kenney seconded and it was voted.
