HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-05-17 Board of Public Works Minutes ' May 17, 1965 Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building. Present were Secretary Watt, Board Members Florence and Kenney and Superintendent Welch. Mr. Watt acted as Chair- man in the absence of Mr. Cochrane. Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved. Read note from the Superintendent in regard to hold- ing a meeting on Monday, May 31, a holiday. Mr. Kenney moved, Mr. Florence seconded and it was voted that a meeting be called at the discretion of the Chairman. Read letter from Board of Selectmen in regard to the sale of tax title land, Lots #93 through 101, to Edward H. Smith, 63 Colburn Road. The lots are adjacent to his property. Mr. Florence moved that the letter be taken under advisement, Mr. Kenney seconded and the motion carried. Read note from the Superintendent in regard to water shortage. Mr. Florence moved, Mr. Kenney seconded and it was voted that a news item be inserted in the Reading Chronicle re- questing residents of Reading to make every effort to conserve water. Such action now may eliminate the necessity of official restrictions at a later date. Read letter from Mrs. Fannie I. Fletcher, 57 Highland Street, complimenting and thanking the men who installed the house connection for the very fine results. The letter will be posted at the Municipal Garage. The Board opened sub-bids on the building of a Water Pumping Station in 100 Acre Meadow at 8:00 P.M. , as follows: - Fulton Ra111ng, Inc. ,Lawrence $1,200.00 Restricted Mike Meek Co. ,East Boston 1,350.00 " Trius Corp. , Wilmington 1,400.00 " T. F. McCarthy, Beverly 1,500.00 " Francis G. Falzarsno, Reading 2,000.00 " Copies will be sent to the General bidders. The Board signed the following : - Sidewalk Assessment Westerly Side West Street - Wescroft Road to #472 Curb Assessment Westerly Side West Street - Wescroft Road to #472 Billroll dated May 14, 1965 Payroll for the period May 8 through May 14, 1965 Meeting adjourned at 8:30 P.M. to meet as the Board of Survey.
