' The Board met with the Building Sites Committee of the First Baptist Church to discuss possible acquisition of a tract of land in the Birch Meadow area at the west end opposite the skating rink. The Board was informed that the meeting was purely exploratory and the Committee did not know whether the Church, as a congregation, would leave the Woburn Street loca- tion. Mr. Watt stated that the Board was reluctant to give up any land in this area because of sentimental value but sug- gested that the Town would take in exchange for the tract of land, a strip of private property which borders the Birch Meadow School. This would act as a buffer zone to the Town property. ' The Superintendent informed the Committee that Park lands cannot be released by the Town, except by the Park Commissioners - the Board of Public Works, after which it is voted by Town Meeting. Mr. Radio, Chairman of the Committee, was of the opinion that the proposal was very fair and agreeable. The Com- mittee expressed the desire to present a concrete proposal to the Church body. The Board signed Billroll dated May 7, 1965 and Payroll for the period May 1 through May 7, 1965. Meeting adjourned at 9:35 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Secretary
