Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30
P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Cochrane, Board Members Florence
and Kenney and Superintendent Welch.
Discussed bids for reconstruction of garage and qual-
ifications of low bidder.
Mr. Florence moved, Mr. Kenney seconded and it was
voted to award the contract to the low bidder, T. F. McCarthy
of Beverly, Massachusetts, at the bid price of $37,783.00.
The Board considered bids on several items of normal
departmental use, such as Road Oils, Concrete Pipe, Sand, Gravel,
' Chemicals, Brick, Cement, etc.
Mr. Kenney moved, Mr. Florence seconded and it was
voted to award the contract to the low bidder in each case.
Received copy of a letter addressed to the Town Coun-
sel by the Utica Mutual Insurance Company relating to blasting
insurance. The Insurance Company has agreed to pay damages
where they had previously denied responsibility. They, however,
suggest certain changes in insurance and blasting methods. The
Superintendent will confer with the Insurance Company and Mr.
Fowler and report back to the Board.
Read note from the Superintendent that due to a cler-
ical error, an Article for purchase of land off Grove Street
' from Myron Wing was not included in the Warrant for the Special
Town Meeting of April 26, 1965•
The Town Counsel will prepare a form of option which
will be proposed to Mr. Wing.
Read note from the Superintendent relative to dis-
play which Department will have at the Conservation Commission's
public meeting of April 24, 1965•
The Board signed contract for 1965 Sewer Construction
which was awarded previously to the Elm Construction Company.
Meeting adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
