Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30
P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building. -
Present were Secretary Watt, Board Members Florence,
Hodgkins and Kenney and Superintendent Welch. In the absence
of Mr. Cochrane, Mr. Florence acted as Chairman.
Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved.
It was moved, seconded and voted to approve the pe-
tition of the New England Telephone & Telegraph Company-Reading
Municipal Light Department for a joint pole relocation: -
WALNQT STREET - Northwesterly side relocate pole 96/29 approx-
imately ten (10) feet Southwesterly.
The Board adjourned to Room 2 where Public Bearing
was held at 7:45 P.M. for the purpose of taking slope easements
on private properties in various locations on Haverhill Street,
Reading.
Ten persons attended the hearing. The Superintendent
and Mr. Louanis, Town Engineer, answered technical questions.
The abuttors were polled as follows: - In favor - 3; opposed - 1;
non-committal - 4. The item was taken under advisement.
Public Hearing was held at 8:15 P.M. on the laying
out as a public way under the Betterment Act of the following :
2H CF (Private) ROAD which runs in a Northerly
�rect3on £rom Cross treat to the portion of Shack-
ford Road which was accepted as a Public Way on
February 6, 1931
Seven persons attended the hearing. Technical ques-
tions were answered by the Superintendent and Mr. Louanis,
Town Engineer. The abuttors were polled as follows: - In
favor - 4; opposed - 3; non-committal - 0. The item was
taken under advisement.
The Board reconvened in Room 16.
Read note from the Superintendent in relation to
rough estimate of $800,000.00 which is the figure being used
for budget purposes on the sewer interceptor. It was Mr.
Welch's opinion that if a different and more specific figure
is to be used, it should be obtained within the next two or
three weeks.
Mr. Watt moved, Mr. Hodgkins seconded and it was
voted that a letter be sent to Whitman & Howard requesting a
reasonably accurate estimate of the cost of installation of
the interceptor sewer from Brook Street to Baker Road prior
to January 18, 1967.
Read copy of letter from the Board of Selectmen of
Wakefield to the Board of Selectmen in Reading requesting a
point meeting between the two Boards and representatives of
the Massachusetts Department of Public Works "to determine
what screening is necessary and how it is to be accomplished
for the Town of Reeding dump which is located adjacent to the
Town of Wakefield in the vicinity of Route 128, a Federal
Aid primary route". It was agreed that the assistance of this
Department would be offered.
Proposed sewer construction schedule for 1967
through 1971 was presented to the Board Members. Mr. Watt
moved, Mr. Kenney seconded and it was voted to accept the
