HomeMy WebLinkAbout1966-11-28 Board of Public Works Minutes 1 :13 November 28, 1966 Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building. Present were Chairman Cochrane, Secretary Watt, Board Members Hodgkins and Kenney and Superintendent Welch. Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved as amended. The Board signed and sent letter to the Personnel Board in regard to the labor situation during snowstorms. Read letter from the Reading Housing Authority re- questing that the Department remove rubbish from the Housing Units. ' It was agreed that the Authority would be advised that the. Town does not maintain a rubbish collection service. Were the Department to collect rubbish at the Housing Authority, it would create a precedent which could develop into a major project. Under the circumstances the Board feels it cannot assume the task of rubbish removal at the Elderly Housing Units. Read letter from Gregory H. Arabian, Attorney, en- closing two copies of summary of remarks in regard to the pro- posed permit - Addison-Wesley Road. The summary will be sub- mitted to Town Counsel for consideration. Mr. Florence joined the meeting. The Board discussed in detail the remainder of the proposed 1967 budget. It was moved, seconded and voted to ' tentatively approve the proposed 1967 budget subject to updating balances and inclusion of any new material. 114 General discussion was held in regard to the Incin- erator, Sewer Interceptor and lifting of water restrictions in the spring of 1967. A letter will be sent to Metcalf & Eddy, Consulting Engineers, on the Incinerator, in regard to firm prices to January 1, 1967. The Board wishes to know if the engineering estimates may be considered as firm until April 1, 1967: Mr. Florence moved, it was seconded and voted that after printing, amended copies of the Rules and Regulations for the use of the John Street Dump will be sent to all holders of commercial permits. A discussion on such permits was presented at the November 21 meeting. The Board signed the Billroll dated November 25 and ' Payroll for the period November 19 through November 25.
