November 14, 1966
Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30
P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Cochrane, Board Members
Hodgkins and Kenney and Superintendent Welch.
Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved.
Board Members received copies of the proposed budget
for 1967 which will be discussed at the meeting of November
21.
The Board received petition for acceptance as a pub-
lic way of Sunnyside Road (off Salem Street ). Nine abuttors
' signed the petition.
It was agreed that the petition would be placed on
file and the Engineering Division will prepare a plan and
figure out costs and assessments. The abuttors will be so
notified.
The Board adjourned temporarily at 7:40 P.M. to meet
as the Board of Survey.
The Board reconvened at 7:50 P.M.
Read letter from Paul L. Cornet, Assistant Vice Pres-
ident - Production, Addison-Wesley Publishing Company, which
stated that the permanent barricade had been erected and signs
are in place on the driveway access to South Street. Addison-
Wesley also requested a permit for an entrance to South Street
to be used for emergency purposes only. Said entrance is to

where the driveway now exists between South Street and the
warehouse.
It was agreed that the Members will view the area.
and the item placed on the Agenda of November 21 for dis-
cussion. Mr. Gregory Arabian, Attorney for the abuttors,
will be invited to attend the meeting.
Public hearing was held at 8:00 P.M. regarding
taking of an easement through private property Main Street
to Cross Street for drainage and sewerage purposes.
Four persons attended the hearing. Mr. Welch ex-
plained the technical details of the plan. The abuttors
were polled as follows: In favor - 1; opposed - 2; non-
committal - 0.
Mr. Hodgkins moved that the decision be postponed J
until no later than December 19; Mr. Kenney seconded and it
was voted.
Public hearing was held at 8:30 P.M. regarding taking
of an easement through private property Alden Circle to Pine
Ridge Road for drainage and sewerage purposes.
Six persons attended the hearing. Technical ques-
tions were asked of and answered by the Superintendent. The
abuttors were polled as follows: In favor - 6; opposed - 0;
non-committal - 1.
Releases from Damages were signed by the abuttors
with one exception. The Board moved, seconded and voted to
make a taking through private property Alden Circle to Pine
Ridge Road for drainage and sewerage purposes. (See plans

The Board signed the Billroll dated November 10,
1966 and Betterment Commitment Sheets - House Connections -
Various Locations.
The Board met with the Personnel Board and dis-
cussed classifications and point evaluations.
Meeting adjourned at 11:15 P.M.

Town of Reading, in compliance with the provisions of
General Laws, Che?ter 60, as amended by Chapter 63 of tlw
Acts of 1933, hereby certify that the list herewith contains
the names of persons against whom we have made betterment
assessments, together with the location of the land benefited
by the improvement and the nature and amount of such better-
ment assessment.
And such list is certified to you for the purpose
of committing the same to the Tax Collector, as provided by
law.
