HomeMy WebLinkAbout1966-10-17 Board of Public Works Minutes 95 October 17, 1966 Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building. Present were Chairman Cochrane, Secretary Watt, Board Members Hodgkins and Kenney and Superintendent Welch. Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved. Read letter from Gerard G. Golden, Acting Secretary of the Reading Midget Rockets, requesting permission to use a portion of Birch Meadow as a practice and game field; also, the Superintendent' s letter requesting more definite informa- tion. It was agreed to take the matter under advisement pend- ing receipt of the requested information. Read letter from the American Design and Development Corporation of Whitman regarding a visit by the Board and Superintendent to view the Destructor in full operation. It was accepted as a point of information. Read note from Mr. Welch with reference to tax title land in Wilmington abutting the Town of Reading wellfield. A letter will be sent to Mr. Floyd Bender, Chairman, Board of Selectmen of Wilmington. The Board adjourned temporarily at 7:55 P.M. to meet as .the Board of Survey. The Board reconvened at 8:35 P.M. The Board conferred with Messrs. Starkey, Clough and Kelley, Members of the Personnel Board, and discussed at length the Town' s salary classifications. Personnel problems within the Department were explored. The Personnel Board agreed to make a study of the classifications. It was the Superin- tendent' s uperin- tendents opinion that the system could be broader and less rigid.
