HomeMy WebLinkAbout1966-08-22 Board of Public Works Minutes 77 August 22, 1966 ' Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building. Present were Chairman Cochrane, Secretary Watt, Board Members Florence, Hodgkins and Kenney and Superintendent Welch. Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved. jThe Board considered taking of an easement through i lands of Laschi and Hopkins off Sturges Road. The Superintendent reported that the owners were willing to grant the easement and had signed a Release from Damages. Mr. Florence moved that the taking be made, Mr. Kenney seconded and it was voted. The Board then signed the Order of ' Taking. Read note from the Superintendent relating to prepara- tion of figures for sewer extensions under grant or grants from Federal Agencies. This matter was discussed at some length. Received notice from Police Department that four young boys had been apprehended while damaging the bridge over the Quannapowitt Drain at Harvest Road. The Superintendent estimated damage at $100.00. It was moved, seconded and voted to request the Police Department to prosecute the boys and to request the judge to remand them to custody of the Board of Public Works to work out the cost of the damages at $1.00 per hour. Received letter from Metcalf & Eddy stating that they ' will be pleased to proceed with the incinerator design whenever 78 the Board feels it is proper. Signed Commitment Sheets for several sewer house connections. The Board discussed problem of additional funds for Consulting Engineers for the Incinerator. Mr. Kenney moved that the Board of Public T^forks request the Selectmen to call a Special Town Meeting in the latter part of October, Mr. Hodgkins seconded and it was voted. Received letter from Mrs. Ruth Peterson of 10$1 Main Street requesting that the drain ditch through her Lot 4 be relocated. She is willing to grant easements. Mr. Kenney moved that the matter be taken under advisement while a study is made by the Engineering Divi- J sion, Mr. Watt seconded and it was voted.
