April 2$, 1966
' Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30
P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Cochrane, Board Members
Florence, Hodgkins and Kenney, Superintendent Welch and Mr.
Galvin, Sub-finance Committee Member.
Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved .
Read note from the Superintendent regarding the an-
nual general vacation period for the labor force. Mr.Florence
moved that the period July 9 to July 24, both dates inclusive,
be used as the general vacation period, Mr. Kenney seconded and
it was voted.
Read letter from Robert A. Edwards, City Administrator,
College Park, Maryland, in reply to the Superintendent ' s recent
letter to him regarding inspection of the City's refuse collec-
tion. The Board will Journey to College Park May 4 and 5. The
data was accepted as -a point of information.
The Board met with Lewis Stockwell, representing the
Mystic Valley Gas Company, in regard to hearings held on April
11, 1966 requesting extension of gas mains in Lakeview (Private)
Road and Osborne (Private ) Avenue.
Mr. Florence moved that both requests be approved, Mr.
Hodgkins seconded and it was voted .
Read letter from Lloyd C. Bender, III, Chairmen, Wil-
mington Board of Selectmen regarding possible meeting to ex-
plore purchase of a parcel o:: land in Wilmington abutting the
westerly property line of the Water Department land and 100-Acre

Meadow. Meeting was set tentatively for May 2, 1966.
Read note from the Superintendent regarding Frank
Miller' s offer to sell his backland off Grove Street to the
Town for $1,500.00. The land abuts the wellfield.
Mr. Kenney moved, Mr. Hodgkins seconded and it was
voted to accept the offer and an agreement be signed.
Mr. Watt joined the meeting.
The Board conferred with William Cheney, Project
Coordinator, and John Leahy, Chief of the Mechanical Depart-
ment of Metcalf & Eddy, Consulting Engineers on Incinerators.
Slides were shown by Mr. Cheney of various installations. The
five phases of the project are as follows: - Preliminary,
Design, Construction, Operational Starting
and Specialecial Ser-
vices. The Preliminary Phase has been completed. Various
facets in regard to Incinerators were discussed . No action
was taken.
The Board signed the Billroll dated April 22, 1966
and Payroll for the period April 16 through April 22, 1966.
Meeting adjourned at 9:35 P.M.
