HomeMy WebLinkAbout1966-04-18 Board of Public Works Minutesl 41 April 18, 1966 Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building. Present were Chairman Cochrane, Board Members Hodgkins and Kenney and Superintendent Welch. Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved. Read petition from New England Telephone & Telegraph Company - Reading Municipal Light Department requesting permis- sion to relocate pole 75/12 Pleasant Street northwesterly side approximately 29 feet. Mr. Kenney moved that the request be approved, Mr. Hodgkins seconded and it was voted. The Board adjourned temporarily at 7:50 P.M. to meet as the Board of Survey. The Board reconvened at 8:00 P.M. The Board signed Contract and Agreement to retain the services of Whitman & Howard, Inc. as Consulting Engineers for the Sewer Interceptor. The Board conferred on the awarding of the 1966 Sewer Contract. Mr. Kenney moved that the contract for the Sanitary Sewer be awarded to 0. Menici & Sons, Inc. , Danvers, in the amount of $137,896.00; Mr. Hodgkins seconded and the motion carried. Read note from the Superintendent regarding conference with Metcalf & Eddy on April 25, and Camp, Dresser & McKee on May 9 about the Incinerator plans. It was accepted as a point of information. 42 Secretary Watt joined the meeting. The Board discussed the street recovering program as j follows: - 1. Parker Street - All 2. Pleasant Street - Main to John 3. Middlesex Avenue - High to Vine 4. Mineral Street - Summer to Bridge 5. Bancroft Avenue - Woburn to Middlesex 6. Summer Avenue - King to West 7. Grove Street - Lowell to Forest The Board also discussed the installation of sidewalk and slope curb on Grove Street. It was moved, seconded and voted to approve the pro- gram as outlined. The Board signed the Billroll dated April 15 and Pay- roll for the period April 9 through April 15, 1966. Meeting adjourned at 8:40 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Secretary
