February 14, 1966
Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:45
P.M. in the Auditorium of the Community Center, 52 Sanborn
Street.
Present were Chairman Cochrane, Secretary Watt, Board
Member Kenney and Superintendent Welch.
Public hearing was held regarding the proposed exten-
sion of the Main Trunk Sanitary Sewer in the following locations: -
MAIN STREET - Hopkins Street to South Street
SOUT T ET - #310 to Jacob Way
SOUTH STREET - Main Street to Wakefield Line
INTERCEPTOR - Brook Street to Cross Street
CROSS STREET - Interceptor to Near Ash Street
CROSS STREET - Interceptor to Near Main Street
FAIRMOUNT ROAD - Hopkins Street to Kenneth Road
KENNETH ROAD - Fairmount Road to Dead End
ASH STREET - Municipal Light Garage to Near Shackford Road
UNION STREET - John Street to Near Middle Street
SHACKFORD ROAD - Cross Street to #24
VISTA #15 to Pratt Street
H LLCRE AD - Oak Street to Ellis Avenue
Fifty-five persons attended the Hearing. A discussion ensued
on the installation of sewers in the various locations. The
abutters were polled as follows: -

Members of the Engineering Division were present and answered
technical questions and explained drawings at the conclusion of
the Hearimg.
The Board convened in Room 16, Municipal Building.

Records of the previous meeting read and approved .
Read note from the Superintendent recommending the J
taking of Drain Easement at 41 Harvard Street and through
the Lobdell and Dillon lots off Walnut Street. In both cases,
all affected parties have signed Releases from Damages.
Mr. Watt moved, Mr. Kenney seconded and it was
voted to take the proposed easement through private property
Northerly of Harvard Street. Hearing was held on January 1,
1966. The Board signed the Order of Taking.
Mr. Kenney moved, Mr. Watt seconded and it was
voted to take an easement through the Lobdell and Dillon lots
off Walnut Street for drainage and sewerage purposes. Hearing
was held on November 22, 1965. The Board signed the Order of
Taking.
No action was taken on the removal of water re-
strictions as suggested by the Superintendent. A report will
be presented each Monday night on the level at the wellfield.
Read proposed Report of the Board for the 1965 Annual
Town Report. It was approved as read.
Read note from the Superintendent in regard to the
removal of snow in specific areas. A discussion followed .
Read letter from Richard E. Brown, Acting Postmaster,
requesting removal of snow from their Sanborn Street driveway
to the corner of Haven Street after each snowstorm.
It was agreed that the snow would be removed as re-
quested. However, Mr. Brown will be requested to ask the em-

ployees of the Post Office not to use the area from the drive-
way to Haven Street to park their personal cars so it may be
available for general use of the public.
Read letter from Charles R. Swett, Dragon Corner
Store, 206 West Street, citing conditions on West Street in
front of his store and requesting that the banks of snow be
removed after each heavy snowstorm. The Board considered the
request and it was suggested that the snow be removed and per-
mission requested to dump it in the field at the south end of
Mr. Swett ' s driveway. The Superintendent will contact Mr.
Swett.
The Board took up the subject of sewer extensions.
Mr. Kenney moved, Mr. Watt seconded and it was voted that the
Sanitary Sewer be installed in the streets as outlined at the
Hearing .
It was agreed that the meeting scheduled for Febru-
ary 21 would be omitted. The Chairman will call a meeting
during the week if necessary.
