Meeting of the Board of Public Works held 7 :30 P. M.
' Chairman Donahue, Messrs. Florence, Harrison, Kilgore and Superin-
tendent Welch present.
Mr. Florence acted as Secretary.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Considered request of Mrs. J. Alden Murphy, 18 Crosby Road, for an
abatement on her October 1958 water bill. Superintendent reported consump-
tion during period was normal.
It was moved, seconded and voted not to grant any abatement.
Considered request of Lester Palmer, 18 Smith Avenue, for an abate-
ment on his October 1958 water bill. Superintendent suggested an abatement
of $15.00 on the October 1958 water bill and $8 .00 on the November 1958
sewer bill.
It was moved, seconded and voted to abate the sums suggested by the
' Superintendent.
Considered request of Elmer Dodge, 83 Libbey Avenue, for an abatement
on his October 1958 water bill. Superintendent reported meter was reading
six per cent over normal.
It was moved, seconded and voted to abate the sum of X16.00.
Considered note from Superintendent suggesting that Department be
closed on Friday, December 26, 1958.
It was moved, seconded and voted to close the entire Department on
Friday, December 26, 1958 providing a snow storm does not occur. In the
event of a snow storm all employees, except female clerks, will be required
to work.
Received petition from Congregational Church and the Christian Science
Church requesting granite curbing be installed abutting their properties on
Sanborn Street and Lowell Street where none now exists.
Voted to include in 1959 Budget an'item for the requested curbing. '
Read short report of Water Development which 'is to be presented to
Special Town Meeting of December 8; 1958 .
It was moved, 'seconded and voted to approve report as proposed.
Read weekly report on Water Dedeldpment progress.
Adjourned at 8:30 P. M. to meet as Board of Survey.
Reconvened at 9 :00 P. M. '
•Considered note from Superintendent suggesting that transfers to
Snow and Ice be increased from $1,000 to $4,000 by transferring an addition-
al $1,000. from Storm Drain Constr. and $2,000, from Sidewalk Constr.
It was moved, seconded and voted to approve an increase in the trans-
fer to Snow and Ice from $1,000 to $4,000 as above suggested . '
Discussed proposed reclassification schedule and descriptions. '
It was moved, seconded and voted to instruct Superintendent to in-
clude in 1959 Budget an item for new chairs and tables for_ the Board Room
