The meeting of the Board of Public Works began at 8:00 P. M.
Chairman Donahue, Secretary Zanni, Messrs. Florence, Harrison and
Kilgore and Superintendent Welch present.
Mr. Wm. Bishop of Reading Chronicle attended meeting. Statyed through
whole meeting.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Read weekly report of progress on Water Development.
Considered note from Superintendent stating he had a conference with
Mr. Guy Teel relative to filling, grading and foaming drain easement areas
and resetting manholes in Sturges Trust Development. Work should be accom-
plished in about 3 weeks.
Received notice from Selectmen stating that a Special Town Meeting
will be neld on Monday, December 8, 1958.
Considered note from Superintendent proposing certain transfers for
' this Special Town Me6ting. It was moved, seconded and voted to request the
following transfers at the Special Town Meeting of December 8, 1958.

Received petition from four abutors on Forest Street requesting exten-
sion of sewer from Wadsworth Road to near Main Street.
Placed on file for future processing.
Read note from Superintendent relative to employment of Richard Bou-
tiette as Civil Engineer at a salary of $p130.00 per week.
Considered note from Supt. showing financial statement on Sewer Constr.
' contract. In brief it states that 647,7OO.U0 is now available and that an
estimated $59,200 worth of work remains to be done. Consequently the
Gavigan Contract will have to be reduced in scope. A detailed discussion
took place.
It was moved, seconded and voted to authorize Superintendent to writ
to J. Gavigan Corp, as follows:
1. Tennyson Road sewer will be specifically eliminated from the Contract.
2. Virginia Road and Virginia Road Extension may be eliminated at a later
data depending on developments on other streets.
Considered request from Cemetery Dept, for an abatement on their
April 1958 water bill of 698.40. They had a leak in their service pipe
just behind box meter. After studying a comparison of previous annual Con-
sumption it was moved, seconded and voted to abate the sum of $62.90 on the
April 1958 water bill.
Considered report of Supt, on claim of Ace Art Co, for alleged damage
to their chain link fence by sidewalk snow plow. Instructed Superintendent
to contact Mr. Winford Spurr at Ace Art Co, and Mr. Harold Parker at Insur-
ance Co. and report to Board at later date. '
It was moved, seconded and voted to make a short report of progress on
Water Development Bond Issue at the Special Town Meeting of Dec. .8, 1958.
Considered letter 'froa'i Weston and Sampson and note from Superintendent
relative to well tests in Revay Meadow and installation of a gravel wall well
in Revay Meadow.
Instructed Superintendent to write Weston and Sampson for more specific
recommendations.
Board adjourned at 9:30 P. M.
