Chairman Donahue, Secretary 'Lanni, Messrs, Florence and Harrison and Superintendent Welch present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Received petition from 86 persons living on Pearl Street, Wake- field Street, Condor Road and Baker Road, requesting that a sidewalk be constructed on Pearl Street between Charles Street and Wakefield Street. Taken under advisement pending further information. Bids at 8:00 P. M. on Sidewalk Construction, No bids received. Considered request of Mrs. Kray, 16 Dustin Road, that her 1948 street betterment assessment be abated from 100 feet to 80 feet because a 40 foot strip of land originally set aside for street purposes in which she had a 2U foot interest has been abandoned and added to a house lot in which she has no interest. Voted to abate the sum of 155.27 on the above described assessment at 16 Dustin Road. Temporarily adjourned at 8 :30 P. L. to meet as Board of Survey. Reconvened at 9 :3U P. M. Received letter from Lawrence Delaney, 159 Howard Street request- ing that his street betterment assessment of $111.92 for the construction of Milton Road be abated. His request is based primarily on the fact his houses faces on Howard Street. Voted trot to abate any part of the street betterment assessment at 159 Howard Street, Received letter from Board of Selectmen requesting information re- lative to a claire. of 6126.u0 for damage to a fence at 24 Gould Street. Owners claim fence was damaged by a Town Sidewalk tractor snow plow. Taken under advisement pending investigation by Superintendent. Considered note from Superintendent relative to salary of William McBrien. His present classification is Transitmen. His Salary is $78.00 per week. He has for two years been acting as Chief of Survey Party. Superintendent recommends increase in salary to $82.00 per week subject to approval of Personnel Board. Voted to approve recommendation of Superintendent and to request approval of Personnel Board to raise salary of Wm. MacBrien. Read note from Superintendent relative to progress by Weston and Sampson on twelve inch loop Water Main. Reaeived letter from R. Sherman Heard, 151 Pine Ridge Road request- ing permission to connect a drain from his driveway to the public storm drain which passes through an easement just north of his property. Voted to grant permission as requested to Mr. Heard subject to the following provisions: 1. The drain shall be equipped with a back water trap. 2. He shall sign a Release from Damages in favor of the Town. Signed three copies of Storm Drain Construction Contracts. Con- tractor is The Dow Co.,. Methuen, Mass. Board adjourned at 10:15 P. M.
