The regular meeting started at 7 :30 P. M.
Chairman Donahue, Secretary Zanni, Messrs. Florence and Harrison
and Superintendent Welch present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved .
A Mr. Johnson conferred with Board relative to the installation of
a sidewalk, curb and driveway entrance abutting the new Methodist Church
Building on the roadway entrance to the Cemetery. Superintendent to in-
vestigate.
Received list of bidders for West Street Chapter 9U Project from
State Dept. Public Works.
Moved, seconded and voted to award the contract to the low bidder,
the Essex Bituminous Concrete Corp. at the bid price of $19,228.50.
Considered report of Supt. relative to 1958 sidewalk construct
progress.
Read weekly report of progress on water development projects.
Hearing at 8 :u0 P. M. on proposed pole location on the north side
of Woburn Street approx. 247 east of Temple Street - pole lU4/25A.
No one present.
It was moved, seconded and voted to approve the proposed pole lo-
cation.
Considered report and list of surplus commodity materials secured
by Dept, at Camp Standish.
Received letter from State Dept. Pub. Wks, giving statement of
reallotment of 1958 Chap. 90 Funds; $21,000 is set up for 1958 Contract
and 4x9,000 is to be carried forward to 1959.
Temporarily adjourned at 8:3U F. M. to meet as Board of Survey.

Read report from Supt, that the following bids will be taken as
follows:
Oct. 13 - 8:00 P. M. - Bit. Cone. Pavement.
Oct. 13 - 8:3U P. M. - Storm Drain Constr.
Oct. 20 - 8:00 P. M. - Sidewalk Constr.
Signed Order of Taking for 5.58 acres of land in Revay Meadow owned
by William S. & Irene G. Luther, $2,000 awarded for damages and taken for
Water Supply purposes.
Signed Order of Taking for 9.28 acres of land in Revay Meadow owned
by Dennis E. & Priscilla Ainsworth, $2,400 awarded for damages. Land taken
for Water Supply purposes.
MEMORANDUM OF VOTE BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
At a regular meeting of the Board of Public Works duly held at the
Board' s Rooms, Room 14, Municipal Building, 16 Lowell Street, Reading,
Massachusetts on Monday, September 29, 1958 at 7:30 o' clock in the evening,
a quorum of the said Board being present, the following vote was unanimou-
sly adopted. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was
VOTED: That in pursuance and under authority of the provisions of
Chapter 118 of the Acts of 1921, Chapter 405 of the Acts of 1689, Chapter
79 of the General Laws, and all acts and amendments thereof, and every
other power and authority, there be taken the entire and a'ooslute title
in fee simple to use for the purpose of extending the system for supply-
ing the Inhabitants of the Town of Reading with water, as designated in
the two following Orders of Taking, said Orders of Taking being incorporated
herein and made part of this Vote, and that the sum of TWO THOUSAND ($2,000.
00) DOLLARS be awarded as damages to William S. Luther and Irene G. Luther,
and the sum of TWO THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED ($2,400.00) DOLLARS be awarded as
damages to Dennis E. Ainsworth and Priscilla Ainsworth, and it is further
voted that this Board cause said Orders .of Taking to be recorded forthwith
in the Middlesex South District Registry of Deeds and that said aaners be
notified of" such Takings as provided by law.

At a meetine of the Board of Public Works of the Town of Reading,
held this 29th day of September 1958, it is ORDERED:
WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works for the said Town of Reading hav-
ing determined that it is necessary to' extend the system for supplying the
Inhabitants of the Town of Reading with water; and
WHEREAS, at a Town, Meeting duly called, warned and held on March 27,
1958, it was voted to extend said system for supplying water, and an appro*
priation was made therefor.
NOW THEREFORE, we, the undersigned, being at least a majority of the
Board of Public Works of the 'said Town of Reading, duly elected, qualified
and acting as such, do hereby, under and by virtue of the provisions of
Chapter 118 of the Acts of 1921, Chapter 405 of the Acts of 1889, Chapter
79 of the General Laws, and all Acts and amendments thereof, and every other
power and authority, take the entire and absolute title in fee simple to use
for the purpose of extending the system for supplying the Inhabitants of said
Town of Reading with water, the land in said Town, bounded and described as
follows:

Beginning at the point of intersection of the division property
lines between lands of Edwin N. Sanborn and James R. Sanborn, Trustees
of the Sanborn Bros. Realty Trust under a Declaration of Trust dated Dec-
ember 30, 1948, recorded on January 12, 1949 in Middlesex South District
Registry of Deeds in Book 7384 Page 570 and lands of Dennis E. Ainsworth
and Priscilla Ainsworth, and Parcel "C" as shown on the plan hereinafter
described;

said Edwin N. Sanborn at al. Trustees, and lands of said Dennis J. Ainsworth
at ux, a distance of 131.4u feet to a point;

Eleanor Barrett, aclstande of 523.45 feet to the point of beginning
of this description.
The above described land being located Westerly of Grove Street in
said Reading and shown as Parcel E on a plan entitled, "Plan of Land in
Reading, Mass. Taker For Purpose of Additional Water Supply As Ordered
By The Board of Public Works, " dated June 6, 1958, James T. Putnam,
Superintendent, said plan to berecorded herewith.
Said land is owned or supposed to be owned by William S. Luther
and Irene G. Luther and said land is estimated to contain approximately
5.5854 acres. . .
Any and all trees, shrubs,walls, and structures upon the land are
specifically included in this taking.
' We award damages in consequence of said taking in the amount of Two
Thousand Dollars. ($_2,000.00) The aforesaid amount includes $6.56 which
is estimated to be that portion of the real estate taxes assessed upon the
property taken for the year 1958 which, if the tag were apportioned pro
rata according to the number of days in such year; would be allocable
to thedays ensving after the said taking. . .
The, interest in said land hereby taken is the entire and absolute
title in fee simple. The said land is takenfor the municipal purposes of
extending the system supplying the Inhabitants of the Town of Reading with
water, under the authority of Chapter 405 of the Acts of 1889.
No betterment assbssments are to be made on the property ownedby
said William S. Luther and Irene G. Luther and adjoining the land taken by
this Order.

Said land is owned or supposed to be owned by Dennis E. Ainsworth
and Priscilla Ainsworth and said land is estimated to contain a_Dproximately

We award damages in consequence of said tdking in the amount of Two
Thousand Four Hundred Dollars. ($2,4UO.00) The aforesaid amount includes
$2.12 which is estimated to that portion of the real estAte taxes assessed
upon the property taken for the year 1958 which, if the tax were apportion-
ed, pro rata according to the number of days in such year, would be allocable
to the days ensuing after the said taking.
The interest in said land hereby taken is the entire and absolute
title in fee simple. The said land is taken for the municipal purposes of
extending the system supplying the Inhabitants of the Town of Reading with
water, under the authority of Chapter 4U5 of the Acts of 1889.
No betterment assessments are to be made on the property owned by
Dennis E. Ainsworth and Priscilla Ainsworth and adjoining the land taken bjo
