Special meeting of the Board opened at 8:UO P. M.
Present were Chairman Donahue, Messrs. Harrison, Florence, Zanni,
Ki:,gore and Superintendent Putnam.
Minutes of previous meeting read and approved.
Met with Finance Committee in Room 19 to discuss the following sub-
jects:
1. Financing of 1958 Water Bond Issue as it concerns Hydrant Rentals, Met-
ered Water Rates and other revenue charges.
2. Special Appropriation for Sewer Construction to finance Sewer Contract
Retained Percentages.
3. Special Town Meeting to secure funds for Channel Improvements and Cul-
vert Construction on the Aberjona River, from Lowell Street to the inter-
section of West Street, Willow Street and Summer Avenue.
Each item; listed herein having been discussed in detail, the Finance Com-
mittee members suggested and the Public Works members agreed that the fol-
lowing would be done:
1. The Board of Public Works are to present to the Finance Committee a
complete water revenue program, using present and contemplated Hydrant
Rental figures as a basis on which metered water rates and other soup
roes of water revenue will be estimated. On the basis of this program,
the Finance Committee will then consider the amount to be raised for
Hydrant Rentals in the 1959 Water Department Budget.
2. It was agreed that consideration would be given the Special Appropria-
tion for Sewer Construction to finance Sewer Contract Retained Percent-
age payments at the time of discussing the 1959 Sewer Construction Bud-
get.
3. Regarding the Aberjona River Channel Improvements and Culvert Construc-
tion, it was suggested by Finance Committee Members that the Waterways
Division of the State Department of Public Works be solicited to con-
tact the Boston & Maine RailRoad officials to ascertain if Federal funds
could be obtained by the railroad to defray part of the culvert cost.
