Regular meeting of the Board opened at 7:30 P. M.,
' Present were Chairman Donahue, Messrs. Kilgore, Hopkins and Super-
intendent Putnam.
Minutes of previous meeting read and approved.
Signed Vouchers and Payroll for payment.
Public Hearing held at 8:00 P. M. in Room 19 regarding the acgep-
tance as a Public Town Way under the Betterment Act of a portion og Inter-
vale Terrace, from John Carver Road Westerly 260 lineal feet . Present at
the hearing were the following ,abutting property owners, who, when p&lled
for an expression of opinion on the proposed acceptance, were recorded as
noted:

Public re-hearing held at 8 :45 P. M . in Room 19 regarding the
acceptance as a Public Town Way under the Betterment Act of a portion of
County Road, from Lewis Street to West Street. Al proponents and oppo-
nents of the proposed acceptance wishing to be heard were granted equal
time to state their opinions regarding the proposed acceptance, as well
as equal time for final rebuttal. One abutting property owner and one
citizen, not an abutter, spoke in favor of the acceptance, and several
abutting property owners spoke in opposition to the acceptance. After all
were heard who wished to be heard, all those present were polled to secure
an expression of opinion regarding the acceptance, said poll being recorded
as follows:

Public re-hearing held at 9 :3U P. M. in Room 19 regarding the accep-
tance as a Public Town Way under the Betterment Act of Dana Road , from
Charles Street Westerly. All proponents and opponents of the proposed
acceptanoe wishing to be heard were granted equal time to state their opin-
ions regarding the proposed acceptance, as well as equal time for final
rebuttal. The question of the original acceptance petition was first dis-
cussed, pro and con, followed by a similar discussion regarding a petition
requesting a re-hearing on Dana Road acceptance, signed by several of the
abutting property owners. After completion of both discussions and debate,
an expression of opinion was taken from all those pres3nt, as shown in the

Following the three Public Hearings in Room 19, the Board reconvened
in Room 1)}.
Moved, seconded and voted to recommend acceptance under the Better-
ment Act of a portion of Intervale Terrace.
Moved, seconded and voted to recommend ecceptance under the Better-
Ment Act of Dana Road.
Moved, seconded and voted that County Road be not recommended for
acceptance at this time, but to instruct the Supperintendent to re-examine
the proposed layout of County Road, including the possible relocation of
the Jackson or other properties. -
Discussed request from tars. Edward Kashian, 122 Charles Street, for
consideration in cost of water main extension. Moved, seconded and voted
to install water main as shown on File Plan M-11.
Received letter from Carl 0. Olson, 314 Charles Street, Reading,
rdquestin-I approval of a 6 inch water main rather than an 6 inen water main
in Boswell (Proposed) Road , a dead-end street off Charles Street. Moved,
seconded and voted to install a 6 inch main as requested.
Received letter from John Enos, Chairman of Easter Egg Parade, Post
' 685 V. F. W. Reading, requesting that the Elgin Street Sweeper and the Crane
Truck be .entered in the Easter Egg Parade on April 5, 1958. Moved, second-
ed and voted to comply with request.
Received letter signed by Robert U. Channhouse, 4.6 Middlesex Ave . ,
Reading,' requesting use of Birch Meadow Pia-ground for a carnival to be sp J
sored by the Rotary Club, Aiwanis, Chamber of Cormerce, Legion, V, F. W. ,
Reading Womens Club and Boosters Club on June 9 - 14, 1958, with a portion
of the profits to be used for the continued development of the profits to be
used for the continued development of the Reading Community Center, Moved,
seconded and voted to invite representatives of the organizations named to
attend a joint meeting with the Board for the purpose of further discussing
the proposed Carnival.
Received report from Superintendent of emergency repairs to the heat-
ing system at Punping Station. No , 11 Hundred Acres, on Fridgy, February 14,
1958 . Report noted.
Received letter from Board of Selectmen regarding possible purchase ,
of new vehicles under a fleet crice or all from one agency at a Savin; to
the Town. Superintendent instructed to advise Board of Selectmen of contem-
plated equipment purchases for the year 1958.
At request of The Reading Chronicle, the Superintendent was instruc-
tedto compile a list of the attendance record of Board members for the
current Board year,
