HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-03-12 School Committee Minutes - Executive Session READING SCHOOL COMMITTEE Reading, Massachusetts EXECUTIVE SESSION March 12 2001 CALL TO ORDER Chair Cavicchi called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. Present were School Committee Members Cavicchi, Dahl, D'Antona, Griset, Keigley and Twomey. Also present were Superintendent Hamtunian,Associate Superintendent Richards and Town Manager Hechenbleikner. NEGOTIATIONS Dr. Harutunian updated the Committee on teacher negotiations. He reviewed the proposal to go to the RTA at the meeting on March 15". Mr. Twomey asked that Dr. Hamtunian review with counsel, the wording for the amendment to the RIF clause changing the dates. Dr. Hamtunian advised that he would include the proposed contract language to proposal number seven. RECESS At 7.50 p.m. Mr.Twomey made a motion to recess from executive session and r_@turn after public session Mr. Griset seconded the motion The vote was 6-0 Ms_ Cavicchi, Mr.Dahl,Ms. D'Antona Mr. Griset. Mr.Kei t y and Mr. Twomey. CALL BACK TO ORDER At 9:30 p.m. Chair Cavicchi called the meeting back to order. All School Committee Members, Superintendent Hamtunian and Associate Superintendent Richards were present. EXECUTIVE SESSION 2 March 12 2001_ At 10:05 p.m. Ms. D'Antona left the meeting, prior to the following discussion. SALE OR LEASE OF REAL ESTATE The Committee discussed the letter from Town Appraiser Billard and his recommended rental rate of$5.50. Mr. Twomey made a motion to authorize the subcommittee to negotiate the rat increase as discussed and a one year extension to the REAP lease Mr Griset seconded the motion. The vote was 5-0 Ms Cavicchi Mr.Dahl Mr. Griset Mr. Keteley and Mr. Twomey. ADJOURN At 19:10 pju Mr.Twomey made a motion to adiourn Mr.Griset seconded the motion.
