in the cluster having shown no draw-down for eight hours.
These figures are not official, but are reasonably correct:
Length of sustained test - - - 8 days

Wilmington Town Line.
Report noted. -
Received the following report from the Superintendent regarding
character of municipal water supply:
Recently, complaints have been received from several sections of Reading
regarding a greenish color to the water delivered to homes. These have
all been received since the start of fluoridation.
One lady, on Grove Street, reported that a yellow wool sweater which she had
washed was left for a short time under a dripping water faucet. Where the
drops fell, the yellow sweater was spotted bright green.
Mr. Coogan of the State Dept, of Public Health was notified of this re-
port, and obtained a sample for analyses. Neither he, nor Weston & Samp-
son, can offer a solution to this matter.
Apparently copper and/or brass pipe is beim; affected by the sodiu* fluo-
ride.
Report noted.
Received report of further progress in water adequacy study from
Weston & Sampson, which hereby becomes a part of these minutes:

Board of Public Works
Mr. James Putnam, Supt.
Municipal Building
Reading, Mass.
Gentlemen:
Enclosed are the results of partial chemical analysis of a sample
of water, No. U-34725, collected on the morning of December 2nd from Test
Well #24 after the test cluster of wells had been pumped three days at
350 GPM.
The sample was clear, .colorless, and of negligible iron content.
The pH of 6.3 indicates that. it is moderately corrosive, and the hardness
was of the same magnitude as the last sample from the Hundred Acre Meadow
supply. The District Engineer of the State Health Department phoned that No
their samples had shown pH's of 6.3 and 6.4, with the same carbon dioxide
content as our sample.
We are keeping close tabs on the pumping test. This morning the
drawdown on all the observation wells was continuing to drop slightly and
the test should be continued until it stabilizes. At the and of the test
we will collect a sample for complete analysis; the State is collecting
them every other day during the test.
We would like to drive one more test well on the north shore of the
Hevay Brook Meadow south of Grove Street, opposite Spruce Street, to com-
plete the appraisal of this area. This morning Maher' s well-driving rig
was removed from the Sanborn Pit because of a previous commitment elsewhere.
Yours vary truly,
WESTON & SAMPSON
