Regular meeting of the Board opened at 7 :30 P. M .
Present were Chairman Johnson, Messrs, Hopkins, Zanni, Donahue and
Superintendent Putnam.
Minutes of previous meetings read, and approved as corrected.
Signed vouchers and payrolls for payment.
Moved, seconded and voted to approve, and to install if funds are
available, the following sanitary sewer extensions:
STREET SECTION
Brun a Court--Chute Streetas erly to No, 6.
Pleasant (Private) St. Extn.--Manning Street Easterly to No. 235
Michelini (Private) Lane--Washington Street Southerly to No. 7
Pierce Street--Organ Factory Northerly to No. 20
Lowell Street--Middlesex Avenue Easterly to No. 54
Lowell Street--Middlesex Avenue Westerly to No, 75
Summer Avenue--Knollwood Road Southerly to No. 478
Ordway Terrace--Chapin Avenue Nortberly to No. 7
West Street--Willow Street Northerly to No. 431
Moved, seconded and voted not to install the following sanitary
sewer:
Virginia (Private) Road Extension--Summer Avenue Westerly
Moved, seconded and voted to take Sewer and Drain Easements in the
following locations: -

easant (Private) Street 1;xtension--Manning Street Easterly to No. 235
Michelini (Private) Lane--Washington Street to Sweetser Avenue
Ordway (Private) Terrace--Chapin Avenue Northerly
Moved, seconded and voted to install 8" water main under Chapter
40 Sections 42G, 42H and 42I of the General Laws, otherwise known as the
Water Main Betterment Act, in Dividence (Private) Road, from Emerson
(irivate) Road to Franklin Street, pending the securing of proper release
from the aoutting property owners.
Reviewed construction projects for the year 1957 to date .
Discussed road materials, method of road construction and surfacing,
etc.
Discussed the 1957 phase of the Sewer Study Program to be accomp-
lished by Whitman & Howard, Consulting Engineers, as it effects proposed
1958 sewer construction. Moved, seconded and voted. to request Whitman &
Howard to have field surveys made to determine critical ground elevations
in certain specific locations, prior to beginning a study of the South-
Westerly section of Reading.
Discussed tree lawn and fine grading items in 1957 Street Better-
ment Contracts, hither to not completed because of the prolonged drouth
conditions. Moved, seconded and voted to instruct the contractor to
proceed with completion of losming, fine grading and seeding operations.
Received report from Superintendent of progress to date on test
well driving, ground water levels, etc, at Hundred Acres Well Field.
Report noted.
The following Registry of Deeds Plans were received by the Board
and reviewed under the Subdivision Control Act, and the action of the Boar'
on each specific plan is noted:

Received request from Arthur Marchinko, 155 Walnut Street, for per-
mission to erect a two car wood frame garage over a Town drain easement and
drain pipe. Request taken under advisement, until more detailed information
is furnished by petitioner.
