HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-08-20 Board of Public Works Minutes August 20, 1957 ® Special meeting of the Board opened at 8:30 P. M. Present were Chairman Johnson, Messrs. Donahue, Zanni, Hopkins and Superintendent Putnam. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved. Moved, seconded and voted to permit Massachusetts National Guard Company based in Reading to steam clean seven trucks and two field kitchens at Municipal Garage on Saturday, August 24, 1957, with Departmental em- ployee operating steam cleaner, paid by the Department. After a report from the Superintendent on the seriousness of the water situation at Hundred Acres Well Field, with ground water levels at points far below normal due to the protracted and continuing drouth, it was moved, seconded and voted that, effective immediately, full water usage restrictions be again put in effect, prohibiting all outside non- essential use of water, as defined in the following Order, which hereby becomes a part of these minutes: E M E R G E N C Y O R D E R Effective August 22, 1957 WATER MUST NOT BE USED FOR THESE PURPOSES; 1. Watering lawns 2. Watering gardens, shrubs, bushes, etc. 3. Washing autos , trucks, or any other equipment 4. Filling a pool of any kind 5.
