HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-10-25 Board of Public Works Minutes Octooer 25, 1956 L A special meeting of the Board opened at 8:00 P. M. Present were Chairman Johnson, Messrs. Hopkins, Donahue, Zonni and Superintendent Putnam. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved. The meeting was called by Chairman Johnson for the purpose of discussing various phases of an access road to the Business C Zoned area Southerly of South Street, and was to be a joint meeting of interested Town Boards and officials. The following listed Town Boards and Members were present: Board of Selectmen: Chairman Kenneth L. Latham Planning Board: Chairman Robert Clinch, Mr. Edward Batten Town Counsel: Carl H. Amon Jr. A discussion of the access road route to be recommended to the Town Meet- ing ensued, and certain figures of cost arrived at, with consent of those present. The joint boards and officials then met with the Finance Committee in Room 19, and financing of the proposed access road further discussed. Chairman Johnson explained to the Finance Committee what action had been taken regarding an access road to date, and read a Letter from the Addison-Wesley Publishing Co. stating certain financial disbursements that would be made by them, if an access road were constructed. After the meeting of the several Boards with the Finance Committee, the Board of Public Works then reconvened in Room 144 for further deliber- ation of the problem. Moved, seconded and voted that Chairman Johnson and Town Counsel ' Amon represent the Board of Public Works at a conference with Mr. Zey- toonian and his counsel, J. Warren Killam Jr., .prior to the public hearings to be held Monday, evening October 29, 1956, in an attempt to secure a figure on land damages from Mr. Zeytoonian. �J SSe 5 < Moved, seconded and voted to .arrsss token street frontage assess- ments of $1.50 per lineal foot on the proposed access road, no matter which route is ultimately chosen.
