Present were Chairman Johnson: Messrs Hopkins, Donahue, Zanni and Superintendent Putnam. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved. . Signed vouchers and payroll for payment. . Assistant Superintendent Watson; Civil Engineer Pagano; Water & Sewer Foreman Tormey; and Highway Foreman Fennelly appeared before the Board for an informal interview. Each man reported on his particular phase of construction work. Moved, seconded and voted to meet with the above named men every three months and have them submit reports of their own partic- ular� department.- - . Hearing held at 8 :00 P. M. in Room 19 on petition of Reading Municipal - Light Dept* for a location for a Direct Burial Cable on Lowell Street, being called the Wilmington Circuit. Present were the following abutting property owners= - Daniel J. Brady, 417 Lowell Street, - Y - Sydney L. Curry, 405 Lowell Street, - N.C. No one was present to represent the Municipal Light Dept. Petition of Municipal Light Department taken under advisement by Board . Hearing held at 8:45 P. M. on Grade Change on William Road off Franklin Street. Present were the following lisited abuttors: William P. Angelini, Hillcrest Realty Inc. - Y Henry J. Angelini, Hillcrest Realty, Inc. - Y George W. Buckland, 397 Franklin Street, - Y Ebbe Ebbeson, 389 Franklin Street, - Y Honors. F. Huebel, 405 Franklin Street, - Y Moved, seconded and voted to approved grade change as shown on Plan No.A-17-79. only.Bids were opened at 9:00 P. Dodge C-3YA 8,671.00 2,907.00 5,764.00 On recommendation of the Superintendent it was moved. -seconded and voted to award the Sewer Contract opened June 11, 1956, to Garden Con- ' struction Inc, of Arlington at the bid price of $28,820.50; they being the low bidder. After the bid had been. awarded, Mr. Stephen Donoghue, President, and Mr. Hugh W. Bartel, Superintendent, of Garden Construction Inc. appeared before Board to discuss the contract; they agreed to start construction on July 5, 1956. Messrs Teel, Jackson & Aboott appeared before the Board 6o discuss the development of the Teel property situated Northerly of Walnut St. Certain changes were suggested by. the Board and agreed to by the Devel- opers. Received petition signed by 3 abutting property owners on Grant street; requesting that all hard-surface sidewalks be eliminated in the Construction of Grant Street and that grassed plots be permitted on sidewalk and tree lawn. After some discussion it was moved, seconded ' and voted to install Bituminous Concrete Sidewalks on Grant Street as originally planned. Received notice of closing of warrent of the Special Town Meeting from the Board of Selectmen. "Notice is hereby given that Articles for the Warrent for the Special Town Meeting to be held on July 23, 1956 must be filed in the Selectmen' s Office not later than 5:00 P. M. on Monday July 9, 1956." Notice noted by the Board. To be inserted by the Board of Public Works in the Special Town Meeting Warrent, as recommended by the Superintendent, are the following articles: Board of Public Works Acceptance of Jacob Way. Relocation of sections of Westerly line of Pearl Street at property of Reading Acres, Inc, Possibly one or two transfers on Betterment Streets. '. Water Main Funds-Man Street, South Street, or Jacob Way, - 12" Main. On the recommendation of the Superintendent it was voted to purchase a Buckeye Material Spreader from Morrissy Bros. for the bid price of $1,090, plus the following extras; Bid price $1,090; agitator $130; safety platform $75. ; or a total of 41,295.00 less 1�.. Received letter from the Planning Board regarding recommendation' s for rezoning an area Southerly of South Street to the Zone C area. Super- intendent instructed to outain further information and put this matter on the agenda for the meeting of July 9, 1956. Received report from Superintendent regarding a conference with Alfred Rotondi of S. Rotondi & Sons of Stoneham regarding the 1955 West Street Chapter 90 Construction Contract, which Rotondi has with the Town of Reading Received petition signed by Howard E. Bussell, 14 Mt. Vernon St. and William A. Williams, 16 Mt, Vernon St. regarding a serious insanitary condition which exists on Mt. Vernon Street at their property due to overflowing cesspools, and requesting that a main trunk sewer be installed. Moved, seconded and voted to install Mt. Vernon St. Sewer if funds are available and to notify Mr. Bussell and Mr. Williams of the decision of the Board. Received list of 1956 Drain Projects from the Superintendent which have been approved as budget items for 1956 Construction. It was re- quested by the Superintendent that these locations be approved so that a contract could be drawn up and bid. Permission granted by the Board. Discussed at some length the bid on a pick-up truck as submitted by Newhouse Motor Sales, Inc. Chairman Johnson agreed to contact Mr. Newhouse regarding same. Board adjourned at 11:15 P. M.
