Present were Chairman Kilgore, Messrs. -Donahue, 2ann1, Johnson and Superintendent Putnam. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved. Signed Order of Taking for layout of Arthur B. Lord Drive. Discussed performance surety bond for construction of Laurel Lane and Tanglewood Circle. Moved, seconded and voted to require bituminous concrete sidewalks on both sides of Laurel Lane, loamed sidewalks on both sides of Tanglewood Circle. Moved, seconded and voted that from this date henceforth, exclu- ding developments which have been presented to the Board for approval, all roadways in developments w7.11 be required to have a bituminous con- crete surface, consisting of a base course 1* inches in thickness and a top or wearing course 1* inches in thickness.. Sidewalks shall also be of bituminous concrete on both sides of the roadway, and shall have a 1* inch base course and a 1" top or wearing course. All thicknesses shall be after final compaction with mechanical rollers of suitable weight. Temporarily adjourned at 8:00 P. M. to act as board of Survey. Reconvened at 8:20 P. M. as Hoard of Public works. Hearing held at 8:30 P. , M, on the acceptance as a public town way under the Betterment Act of a portion of Grant Street. Francis - 16 Grant Street " " Yes (by attorney) It was suggested by several of those present that the name of Grant 6treet be changed, as on several occasions the name "Grant Street" had been confused with "Grand Street". A letter was also received from Fire Chief Hugh L. Eames, confirming the similarity between "Grant" and "Grand". Two names were suggested by those attending the Hearing, ' "Cummings Road" or "Grantland Road". Both matters taken under .advisement by the Board. Moved, seconded and voted to establish sewer frontage assessments at 942.50 per lineal foot. frontage, effective as of. this date. Held public hearing at 9: 00 P. M. on main trunk sewer extensions on High Street, £rom. Lowell Street Southerly approximately 300 feet. Received letter and sketch from Mr. John W. Marzinzik, 131 Willow t96 Street, suggesting location for future school site on the Kelch Farm off Willow Street, and also commending the Board for the able manner in which the Willow Street Sewer article was presented, at ibe Special- Town Meeting held January 30, 1956. Board Instructed Superintendent as Clerk of the Board to acknowledge with thanks receipt of letter, and to inform Mr. Marzinzik that the information contained. in his letter regarding school sites lies properly within the province o£, the Special Committee on School Sites and Recreation Sites, and his letter and sketch has been referred to said Committee. Interviewed Judge Sartore111 and Irvin Birchall of Realty Const. & Engineering Co, at some length regarding bonding of West Street for sewer construction, and Edgemont Road and Arcadia. Road for street con- struction. Also discussed at some length mechanics of water main in- stallation in Glen Meadows Development. To summarize, West Street sewer must be bonded, water mains will be laid by Town forces, Edgemont Road and Arcadia Road must be bonded. Superintendent authorized to determine amounts of the several bonds with Realty Construction officials. Mr. Edward J. Resnik, 419 Grove Street, appeared before Board to complain that Grove Street has. not hadsnow plowed from its flurface, that no sand has been spread on its icy surface, that fire hydrants have not been shoveled out to permit firemen free access to same, and that, when Grove Street is surface treated with road oil and sanded, surplus sand is not removed for two m6nths, causing dirty conditions in his house.
