HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-04-23 School Committee Minutes READING SCHOOL COMMITTEE Reading, Massachusetts REGULAR SESSION April 23, 2001 CALL TO ORDER At 6:53 p.m. Chair Cavicchi called the meeting to order in the RMHS Guidance Office. School Committee Members Cavicchi, Dahl, Griset, Keigtey, Russo and Twomey were present. Also present were Superintendent Harmunian and Associate Superintendent Richards. Chair Cavicchi congratulated Mr. Dahl on his re-election and Mr. Russo on his election. TRANSFER OF FUNDS Dr. Harutunian advised that he is requesting the Committee approve a transfer from the reserve fund of$65,000 to cover legal fees for the ten-taxpayer lawsuit and a transfer of $75,000 from the reserve fund to cover building maintenance expenses. Mr. Russo disclosed that he was a member of the ten-taxpayer lawsuit that he has no financial interest in the transfer vote, and that his vote will nothe influenced by his role in that suit. Mr. Twomey made a motion to transfer$65,000 to cover legal fees and $75,000 to cover building maintenance costs from the reserve fund. Mr. Keiglev seconded the motion. The vote was 6-0 Ms. Cavicchi, Mr. Dahl,Mr. Griset, Mr. KeiglevMr. Russo and Mr. Twomey. SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT Dr. Harmunian advised that the School Committee has been requested to appoint a representative to the Town's Human Relations Advisory Committee. It was the consensus of the Committee that Robin D'Antona be appointed as the representative to the Human Relations Advisory Committee. Dr. Harutunian advised that at the School Committee meeting on May 71h the School Committee's Excellence in Education Awards would be distributed to students and staff. �r REGULAR SESSION 2 April 23,2001 l`►" ADJOURN At 7:00 p.m. Mr. Twomey made a motion to adiourn.
