Regular meeting of the Board opened at 7;30 P. M.
Present were Chairman Kilgore, Messrs. Zanni, Johnson, Donahue
and Superintendent Putnam.
Minutes of Special Meeting held January 12, 1956 read and
approved as corrected.
Received petition for extension of common sewer in Puritan Road,
Priscilla Road, John Carver Road, Harvard Street, signed by thirty
abutting property owners, this being the area known as Puritan Park,
Temporarily adjourned to meet as Board of Survey at 8:00 P . M.
Reconvened at 9:00 P. M. as Board of Public Works ,
Received letter from Mr. W. W. Bishop, who is on the staff of
The Reading Chronicle in the capacity of vice-president, requesting
an interview with the Board for the purpose of becoming personnally
acquainted with the Board members and also to assist the Board in any
manner possible through the facilities of The Reading Chronicle.
Board instructed Superintendent to write 11r. Bishop in his
capacity as Clerk of the Board extending an invitation to Mr. Bishop
to attend the February 6, 1956 meeting of the Board.
Joint meeting held at 9 :30 P. M. in Room 19 with Special Com-
mittee in School Sites and Recreation Sites and with Planning Board
to discuss several proposed possible sites for erection of elementary
schools and construction of playgrounds.
The Board of Public Works were questioned iips to sewers, water
mains and roadways available to or necessary fortheseveral sites pro-
posed . In one location drainage problems were discussed at some length,

Moved, seconded and voted to instruct Superintendent to have
estimates of quantities on hand at Board Meetings when contract
payments are on the voucher warrant.
Received report of progress from Superintendent on negotia-
tions with Jacob Zeytoonian and Carl Englund for an access road
through their properties to service the Business C. Zoned area in
which Addisbn-Wesley Publishing Co. propose to erect a printing
establishment.
Discussed materials to be used by Realty Construction and
Engineering Co., Inc, in their Glen Meadows housing development.
Moved, seconded and voted following requirements for Glen
Meadows development :
. WATER MAINS
A 12" cast iron cement lined water main in Arcadia Avenue,
from West Street to Munroe Avenue, and in Munroe Avenue
from Arcadia Avenue to its dead end near Winslow Road, the
Town to pay the difference in cost between 8" and 12^ pipe
and necessary fittings.
In the remainder of the development, 8" cast iron cement
lined pipe will be required.
SEWER MAINS
Transits pipe of suitable size shall be used in Arcadia
Avenue, from West Street to Munroe Avenue, and in Munroe
Avenue, from Arcadia Avenue to its dead end near Winslow
Road, the Town to pay the difference in cost between the
- normal size pipe required for Glen Meadows and the size
pipe required for trunk line sewer for other town purposes.
In all other streets in Glen Meadows development clay pipe
of suitable size may be used.

SEWER HOUSE CONNECTIONS
' Transite pipe shall be used on all sewer house connections.
Moved, seconded and voted to hold a special meeting of the
Board on Thursday evening, January 19, 1956 for the ournose of
examining the 1956 Budget sheets.
Board adjourned at 11:20 P. M.
