CALL TO ORDER
Ms. Cavicchi called the meeting to order at 7:35 a.m. at the YMCA Present were School
Committee Members Cavicchi, Dahl, Griset, Keigley and Russo and Superintendent
I{arutunian. Also in attendance were two members of the public.
OPEN DISCUSSION
The Committee discussed the first community meeting held on June 6" and stated that
they were pleased with the citizen turnout.
Dr. Harutunian,Mr. Griset and Mr. Russo left the meeting for approximately five
minutes.
Dr. Harutunian discussed his conversation with Senator Tisei regarding Chapter 70 funds
for the Town of Reading. Ile stated that over burden aid is not included in the new
formula.
Mr. Tom Ryan stated that Reading is roughly 91% residential and has a very small
business base.
The Committee discussed the need for development of Camp Curtis if the state turns the
area over to the Town.
Mr. Russo stated his concerns over increased pollution and traffic if the arca is
developed.
The Committee discussed the need to increase revenue in the town in order to maintain
services and the need for an economic development committee in town.
The Committee discussed ways to better connect with the community.
At 8:30 a.m. Dr. Harutunian left the meeting.
ADJOURN
At 5:45 Mr. Dahl made a motion to ad iourn. Mr. Keiglev seconded the motion The
vote was 5-0 Ms. Cavicchi, Mr. Dahl, Mr. Griset, Mr. Keiglev and Mr. Russo.
