HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-12-15 Board of Public Works Minutes 161 ' December 15, 1955 A special meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P. M. Present were Messers Donahue, Hopkins, Johnson, Zanni and Superintendent Putnam. Mr. Hopkins was elected Chairman Pro Tem. Minutes of meetin', of December 12 read and approved: Petition received for acceptance under the Betterment Act of Pine Ridge Road Extension. Accepted petition, to be processed. in usual manner. Received letter from George E. Hayes, Civil Engineer, request- ing that Bainbridge (Proposed) Road , from Charles Street to Haver- hill Street, be laid out at a forty foot width. On recommendation of Superintendent, moved, seconded and voted to permit laying out of Bainbridge (Proposed) Road at a forty foot width. Received request from Norma Collins Curran, 286 West Street, for permission to pump water from a cellar drain to a Town catch basin. Permission granted, with usual restriction. Discussed job descriptions for Assistant Superintendent and Administrative Assistant. Approved job description as revised, and it was so moved, seconded and voted. Received report from Superintendent on clogged 24" storm drain on Harriman Avenue and through private property to High Street, said ' drain being the outfall of the newly installed Cape Cod Avenue-Deering Street drain, and approved securing services of J. P. McDermott Co. 162 to clean said drain with a Flexible Power Bucket Machine . , Examined Registry of Deeds lot plan submitted by Realty Construction & Engineering Co. of lots abutting West Streat on the Chang Farm. Approved lot layout plan, lots abutting West Street only. On tentative approval of entire development, to be known as Glen Meadows, approval withheld pending action by full Board. . Receiv31 request from Francis Kiley, developer of land on Westerly side of Pine Ridge (Private) Road, for water main extension in Pine Ridge (Private) Road . As Town land known as Sturges Park abuts the entire Easterly side of this road, moved, seconded and voted to assess petitioner one-half cost of water main installation ' only. Received petition for acceptance under Betterment Act of Indiana Avenue, signed by four abutting property owners. Accepted petition, to be processed in usual manner. Received report from Supt. of Water supply to houses on Cope- land Avenue. An inch and one-quarter main, laid in several extensions starting in 1912, supplies 5 houses. Moved, seconded and voted to replace Copeland Ave. 11a" main with 8" main when funds are available. Received request from Heber E. Crocker to revise the radius of the South-Westerly corner of Linnea (Private) Lane and Pearl Street, near Forest Glen Road, to a twenty foot radius. On recommandation of Superintendent, voted to tentatively approve said revision, which will, however, require a public 'hearing to legalize the revision. Received petition for acceptance under Betterment Act of Grant. Street, signed by six abutting property owners. Accepted petition, 16 13 to be processed in usual manner. Signed 1955 Chapter 90 Maintenance Statement of Expenses. Read and discussed letter to Capital Expenditures Planning Committee prepared by Superintendent. Withheld action on same pend- ing action by full Board . Discussed erection of hockey rink boards at Sturges Park. No action taken. Board Adjourned at 11:20 P. M. Respectfully Submitted.
