October 24, 1955 .
The regular meeting of the Board opened at 7:30 P. M.
Present were Messrs. Hopkins, Donahue, Zanni and Superinten-
dent Putnam.
Minutes of previous meeting read and approved.
Mr. Hopkins elected Chairman pro tem. Chairman Kilgore arrived
at 8: 00 P. M. and assumed his duties as Chairman.
Short discussion of road machinery fund rental rates ensued.
Suggestiotl made to invite Board of Public Works sub-committee
of Finance Committee to meet with Board to discuss existing and pro-
posed rental rates, after Board has an opportunity to discuss rates
more fully.
Mr. Francis MacCormack and Mr. Theodore Connors, owners of ,
houses under construction on Charles Street Easterly of Pearl St.
appeared before Board to discuss water main extension to their prop-

After a review of the matter by the �••^^....�-�^a...-.;...^� ,
it was moved, seconded and voted to stop the water main extension Just
short of the Crosby lot line (vacant land opposite the new houses) ,
and to assess each abuttor $550.00; of a total of $1,650.00 for the
proposed extension. .
Discussed matter of proposed direct burial cable on Lowell ,
Street. Instructed Superintendent to invite Manager Stanford of
the Municipal Light Dept. to appear before Board and explain con-

struction and installation procedures.
On recommendation of Superintendent, it was moved, seconded
and voted to write the Board of, Selectmen requesting that the land
, on the Easterly side of John Street, Northerly of Walkers' of
Wakefield and Southerly of Quannapowitt Drain Ditch be retained
by the Town to be used as a public dump, and that Article 10 in the
October 27, 1955 Special Town Meeting Warrant be indefinitely post-
poned..
Superintendent instructed to prepare an organization chart
listing various classifications of Public Works employees, their
duties and responsibilities, and to present same to Board with a
report and recommendation 0N Wo'/ Z /
