The regular meeting of the Board opened at 7:30 F. M.
Present were Chairman Kilgore, Messrs. Honkins, Donahue,
ZanrJX, Johnson and Superintendent Putnam.
Mr. William Burpee of School Site Committee visited Board to
present Forest Street Elementary School preliminary plan, and to
discuss location of proposed access road to school, from.Forest
Street to Birch Meadow Drive.
Six residents of High Street appeared before the Board to
reiterate their request for sewer extension on High Street, from
Lowell Street to Middlesex Avenue. Petition was filed on March 2¢, 1951+
They were assured by Board that every effort is being made by Board to
install sewers as funds are made available, and that High Street sewer
is definitely on the list for .future installation. Hearing at 8:45 P.M.
on location of steel guy stub on Summer Avenue, Northerly side,
Westerly of Brook Street. No one appearing in opposition thereto,
locatica was granted.
4 Temporarily adjourned at 9:00 P. M. to meet as Board of Survey.
Reconvened at 9:15 P. M. as Board of Public Works.•
Minutes of the Board meeting of September 26, 1955 read and
corrected.
Received report from Supt. regarding visit of State Flood Damage
Engineer David E. Coffe regarding allocation of State and Federal
Flood Relief Funds to Town of Reading for damage caused by heavy rains
attending hurricane "Dianne" on August 18 and 19, 1955. Report noted.

On recommendation of Superintendent, voted to approve land '
damage' se'ttlement in the amount of $400.00 to Louis E. Garono for
1.12± acres of land Northerly of Intervale Terrace as an easement for
stream channel improvements on Birch Meadow Brook.
Received letter from Personnel Board approving merit wage
increases for twelve Public Works employees as requested September 14,1955
and four 'promotions from semi-skilled to skilled labor classifications.
Received request from Superintendent for vacation dates for
Superintendent - Request granted.
On recommendation of Superintendent, voted to retain 1950 Ford
pick-up truck originally scheduled to be traded in on 1955 pick-up truck
to Carleton & Gray, Inc. , for bid turn in price of $175.00.
Decision on purchase of Material Spreader held over until ,
meeting of October 10.
Board adjourned 10.30 P. M.
